Futon Mattress to Replace Front? Gaucho Bed Mattress?
Will a futon mattress replace the mattress gaucho Tradewind 25' in the front? I would like to make the bed a little larger and wondering if I worked in a futon mattress to replace the one I have with some adjustments I could easily get a new cover. Anyone try this?

We have replaced 3 Gaucho pads with a Futon mattress. It is a bit higher, but oh so much more comfy!

Last year I had a custom made mattress made for my Grandmother's trailer. She was sick and tired of the old Gaucho pads she was sleeping on. We contacted RockyMountainMattress.com and they produced a memory foam futon mattress for us that we then had covered in a canvas material and she now uses in her trailer. She loves it. Just another idea
Balrgn,
How did you keep it from flopping over? We tried to replace the one in our Tradewind bedroom area, but it kept falling over. I agree they are much more comfortable and on ebay you can get the covers pretty cheap. Did you remove the little wood edge behind it?

I use a futon mattress in my bedroom area, side gaucho, but it is made with wool batting and is very thick and stiff. It stands upright just fine, doesn't seem to interfere with the curtains, but I have the seat part wider than the back. It also helps with insulation on cold nights.

The mattress is pretty high end, no worrk about it falling forward, it is 9 inches think. I added some 1/4" luan to the slie oout so it has a level area to set on.
