Help with Shower Curtain

Can someone PLEASE tell us how the shower curtain is hung in an Ambassador. There isnt a rod, just some hooks coming from the ceiling.

Gee I don't know if my is the same ("66) but I have those little hooks ( only half lefts) and I use a regular shower curtian and use the hooks that I have every other one and a standard RV peg that you have to sew into the curtian and then slide it on the track. Hope that helps! A.

Thanks. Do you have a picture? Sorry it is driving me nuts and I am having trouble visualizing it with those crazy hooks in the ceiling! I guess what puzzles me is there is only 3 hooks, and they are way out past where the shower is. If one hooked them on those hooks in the ceiling, the floor would get soaked and then there would be worry of floor rot. Im going to go out and take some pictures and maybe someone can brainstorm with me to figure it out.

Ok, here goes. The little white chains with the curtain rings were in the camper when Kern72 brought it home. Im sure they used them some way to configure the curtain, but we cant get it to work. There isnt anywhere to attach it to either wall. Did they come with curtains I wonder? Or were they made to just shower in the open? Anyway, here are the pictures. Any ideas out there? Thanks for any help you can give us. We are leaving friday for a week and really need to figure something out.

Ours has a track riveted to the ceiling It kinda swoops around the curve of the ceiling/wall. We use a standard curtain and hooks. Works good. When I get dressed I will take a photo.

Good question! That's why I'm glad mine is in good shape. They are made out of a embossed vinyl type material. They are fan-fold and have some sort of padded stiffeners in the panels. None of the seams are sewn... it looks like they are seamed with some sort of plastic welding process.

I really like the swoopy track posted by anholman... looks like a cool alternative to the original.

Yeah, those shower screens are verrry cool! I doubt you will be able to find one from a donor trailr that's in good shape - if they are, they are coveted!

I would imagine though Tammy, with your sewing talant, you could come up with something very similar using vinyl, with quilt batting and a lightweight plastic/heavy vinyl acetate stiffener sewn in pockets and pleated - if you had a pattern to get the shape right.

If I had this tub/shower set-up I would certainly try...good luck if you do. I'm sure there are others that would need them if they were available.

I have the entire bath from my 68 safari that looks like that, but mine is yellow, and not the turquoise.

Steve

Anyone know where I can get a shower curtain made like the original for a 65 GT?

Steve

Thanks Shari. That is an alternative but I think I like the rod on the ceiling. It is for My brother and sis-in-laws (Kern72) camper. I told them I would make them a curtain, but I dont know about all that other work involved, lol! Maybe later on when I am caught up on all the curtains and Gaucho's I will give it a shot!

Hi Steve,

Don't know where to get one like the 65, but the yellow one in my 67 is in terrible shape. Where can I get one of them?

Is it possible that the hooks in the ceiling were to hold a peice of PVC, sticking each end thru the big loops and then put a normal shower curtian hanging on the PVC?

Yes, and it's in really bad shape. It has splid and the stiffening cardboard is rotted away at the bottom and is completely missing in one panel.

Well, I did a quick fix so we could camp this weekend. I put 3m hooks for holding cups up there on the ceiling and hung the curtain on them. Works great for now. The real test will be Saturday when my brother takes a shower in it,lol!

Neil and Lynne,

Did you mount the shower curtain rod? We have the same but I have no idea how to adhere to the fiberglass? Tips would be appreciated.
