Help ! Insulation adhesive removal - 2000 excella

I have scoured these forums looking for the magic solution to remove insulation adhesive residue on the interior wall ( skins off).

Sadly no magic. We removed interior walls and all the fun pink stuff and left behind is the brown goo liberally sprayed on every visible piece of aluminum. Not sure if this is how they normally install the insulation but someone was very heavy handed with the glue. Besides the annoying pink fibers what is most noticeable is the level of mold that grows in the glue itself. We would have left it except for the level of active mold bar seems to be living in the glue. There were certain bays where they did not useany glue and sure enough the aluminum is brand new, clean, dry ( and most importantly free from mold). Needless to say we wonít be gluing anything when we reinstall insulation.

We tested everything - goo gone, MEC, the heavy duty citrus paint remover. So far the citrus remover works best after sitting for several hours. Because itís so thick it doesnít evaporate like everything else- the longer it sits the better it works but still requires some muscling to get it off. Also we are fighting weather as Iím sure the New York temps are not helping ( a mild 45 for NY nevertheless)

Anyone have any luck with anything else? Was thinking of trying the heat gun but concerned about impacting the exterior finish ( ours has the exterior clear coat we didnít plan on removing it )

Toxic and nasty, but paint remover (not the "natural" kind) is probably your best bet.
