Hanging a Clock
I want to put a wall clock above the television in the trailer.
What's the best way to mount it to the wooden wall?

Velcro Dots
I just moved my wall clock and also mounted an anolog weather station on my wall.
I used a small screw to fit in the predetermined place in the back of the clock and the weather station.
I applied 4 velcro dots to the backs of both units.
Next, I applied the corresponding side of the velcro to the dots I already stuck on the back of both units and removed the film to expose the adhesive.
Then I held them at an angle to make sure the place for the screw was a good fit and then gently pulled downward as I pushed inward to get the velcro adhesive stuck in the correct place.
Neither has budged at all.
I purchased the velcro dots at Walmart in the craft section.
Hope this Helps.

DON'T that is the best way. While in your Airstream time should be an abstract thing. I suggest having no clock at all. You know when the sun rises and the sun sets. You know when your tired and hungry. Why let a clock tell you those things. Let yourself be on Airstream time.

62overlander,
I know that you are absolutely right, but you see, I got this free clock, and I hasta use it.
I'll probably do what fr8tshaker suggested. That sounds like it would hold it in place pretty good.

didn't your classic COME with a wall clock?
perhaps the DEcontenting continues.
clocks have LONG been a tradition inside streams,
first they were winders and later battery powered.
new units came WITH a wall clock from at least the mid 70s till 2005.
but i suspect the tradition started much earlier.
my unit had a 'seth thomas' or some other traditional brand wall clock,
hung basically as shaker describes, a single screw and velcro tabs.
it was promptly replaced with one of these...
cheers

Mine did not come with a clock.
I searched for quite a while before finding a smaller wall clock with an aluminum motif. I can't find the link at the moment but I can dig it up if there is interest.

WalMart has a great brushed aluminum "look" (it's plastic) digital clock with inside/outside thermometer and humidity sensor. The outside sensor is wireless and could be mounted under the AS. It was not a lot of $. I have not bought one as my AS has the AS store clock which is a round analog aluminum finish plastic clock already in it.
Pre drill the formica on the wood cabinets to keep from cracking or spalding a chunk off.

Ours did not come with a clock, and we couldn't find anything small enough to suit our little Interstate.
Until we found small, stick-on, battery operated clocks from a marine supply place online. They are about 1 1/2" across, stainless steel case but also come in colors. We got two, put one near the front door and one in the rear near the radio/cd player.

2 Air,
Now that's a cool clock!
No clocks provided with the 2010 model.
Another question:
Is there supposed to be a door on the entrance of the trailer, or is this sheet of plastic covering the opening all we get? Ha, ha!
Jammer,
Ya, post a pic. I'd like to see what you found.
At first I was going to get one that looked like a port hole, then when I ordered some stuff from Omaha Steaks a while back, they sent me a free clock with a barometer and temp gauge on it and it is aluminum in color and plastic, so it's super light weight and a neat design for inside the trailer. I have it sitting on the counter in the trailer now, so I'll take a pic of it and post it here this weekend after I mount it.
Maggie,
I like those, that's a good site and prices are not bad either.

Kool Krazy Kat.
I have a small collection of old AC powered Kit-Kat clocks. They were originally made in my home town of Seattle. They started in the mid 1930s.

Dang, that cat clock reminded me that Grandma had one of those in her kitchen when I was little, and I found it absolutely hypnotic!
I have a round aluminum framed clock I found and fell in love with. I went through a great deal of trouble to take it apart and install a couple of bolts sticking out the back of it, then drilled two small matching holes in the wall. The studs go through the wall and I have wingnuts on the backside (which comes out in the closet). It had to be easy to remove to replace the batteries in it.
Although I would love to go without a clock, I often find myself needing to know what time the potluck is, or cooking things that require having some concept of how much time has passed, and my husband will assure you I have no concept of time on my own

fr8tshaker: you said that you hung a weather station; if you mounted a remote sensor outside, where did you put it? I am trying to fiqure out a good external location that would pick-up the ambient air temps and not be too influenced by the direct sun, yet also protected from the road elements. I was thinking attached to the LP tank cover, facing towards the trailer.
Thanks,

We found this aluminum clock at IKEA, and I put several strips of just the hook side of Velcro on the back. It grabs the mouse fur on the wall, and stays put. We've been down some bumpy roads that had things flying out of some cabinets, but the clock stayed right where it was (I made the slipcovers, too - IKEA fabrics).

For my 64 Safari I mounted clock on right end of front overhead cabinet.
To mount I simply used 1/4"x3" screw with a washer and nut on both side of wood, letting screw head protrude 1/2" to hang clock from nail mount hole, hasn't fallen off in 10K miles.
Clock was assembled using battery operated movement (hint: new Waltham battery clocks are SILENT and no jumping/ticking second hand).
I gutted a 1940's chrome Ingersol 7" ac powered kitchen clock ($10 ebay) and put the modern battery works in.
Looks like it belongs, retro chrome, one AA battery operated, silent, accurate.
I had way too much time on my hands in the heated garage that winter.

Steamy,
The weather station I mounted in the galley is a just mechanical device that has no external monitoring available. It is the 9" inch Taylor Galvanized Weather Station in case someone else is wanting something similar. As usual, I placed a review on Amazon.
DH is a technophobe and considers an on/off switch advanced technology.
I wanted something to monitor the interior humidity level since we are fters. This fit the bill and DH is happy monitoring the barometric pressure.
I will be getting a small ac/dc powered weather radio with s.a.m.e to give us alerts for wherever we are esp. with what happened at Albert Pike.

Greetings,
I said that I would post a picture of the free clock I got after I hung it in the stream. Well, it didn't happen. I decide that the clock is way to big for the wall over the television and would not look good anywhere in the trailer.
Maybe I'll try some of the sites mentioned and look for the right timepiece or just go with my original idea of a small porthole style clock.
Thanks everyone for your ideas!

Howdy there Bluto in "Cowtown" and congats on the new Airstream. We mounted our "Porthole" plastic, aluminum looking clock with the small screw and velcro stips similar to the method used by the previous poster. After many miles, no problems. Have fun.
