Gaucho Replacement

Hello friends,
My cabinet maker is asking me about rebuilding our Front "Gaucho Bed" in our 1963 Globtrotter rebuild. Does anyone know of a way to make this new bed or is there a replacement that will fit my Airstream? Our water take is an old one and sorta gets in the way heighth-wise. about 10" high against the front wall.

look up some of the threads here on that topic, there are many who have built their own, one that comes to mind is member Pizzachop who built two.
There are rv sofas that might work clearance wise, but it depends on if you are happy with the look.

If you don't have to have a replica you can look into the Magic Bed by Flexsteel. We put one in our 75 Ambassador and it is ultra comfy, and makes a double bed. By the time you add up materiels for the cabinet, foam, and upholstery it may be cheaper to get the magic bed as well.

Check this link

Here's the best link I've found. Note that there is another link on the page to plans for the front and side gauchos.

Good Luck.

we are inspired ! the way the sample folds out we hadn't thought of. That would be accordian stlye folding bed. With this information we will be able to build a 5' bed (with little room to get out the door;5-6") but we are ok with that and just enough for a foot out the door is fine with us.
I will post our progress as time goes on.
Not soon but as we go.
Thanks,

Gaucho Slides

Paris-

Assuming you are talking about the more original gaucho, I wanted to make sure you know you can buy the slides at Vintage Trailer Supply Vintage Trailer Supply - Vintage travel trailer parts and supplies!

Also, what's the story on that pressure tank? Are you sure you want to build around it? My first Airstream was a '63 globetrotter -- the tank held pressure, but I was nervous about dumping half the tank in the trailer if it gave way.
