Gaucho Arm Rests

Does anybody know if the armrests for our front gaucho in our '83 Sovereign are designed to be placed between the mattress and the front wall when folded down in sleeping mode? Thanks!

I just removed the gaucho and armrest (1) from our "78" Ambassador. If yours is the same as ours, then you will surprised to find that the armrest isn't even bolted down. Ours was just wedged in between the curbside wall and the gaucho itself. Don't know if that is how it is supposed to be but thats how ours was positioned. The gaucho could be up or down and the armrest was held in place by the frame of the gaucho...nothing else.

Mine remain in the same position as they do when in *couch mode* - to each side of the cushions. Mine are held in place with three or four screws - at the wall and to the flooring. Removed them last year for recovering...
