For a full renovation, where to start?

Hi everyone!

Wow, there's so much information on this site it's a little overwhelming. I'm renovating a 1962 Globetrotter, and I'm quickly seeing how every part is interconnected with something else like a big jigsaw puzzle.

Does anyone have advise on an overall master plan philosophy on what order to do things in? I can find detailed info on each discreet task, but I'm feeling lost on mapping out an overall game plan. I've removed all the gauchos and interior wall dividers and am now coming up against the plumbing and gas lines being all interwoven amidst the sink and kitchen fixtures. I plan to dig in over the course of this summer and learn to do as much myself as I can - any input would be greatly appreciated!

The plan really depends on the condition of the trailer and what you want to do with it. Post pics and you will get better feedback for sure.

In general, the priority should be safety and to be weather tight. If the interior is all rotted out and the frame is rusted out, they taking it all apart and repairing or replacing the frame would be the start. If the frame and floor is in good shape, then I would focus on making sure it stays dry in the rain. If all that is good, then you would want to focus on systems, like electrical and plumbing and appliances. So you can see that the focus really depends on what you are starting with, which in this case for me is unknown.

Take pictures of everything, no matter how small. Place a ruler or measuring tape in the picture for reference. Label anything that is reusable and set it aside. Don't throw anything away until you have a replacement. Even if something is broken, it may be repairable and near impossible to find a replacement.

First priority should be to ensure the shell is watertight and the deck is sound. That will dictate the remainder of your project.

Ah yes, I must be more specific! Thank you for your initial comments. I'll start taking some pictures this weekend and post an update on where I think things stand. I am certainly saving and labeling everything - lots of ziplock baggies and blue tape already!
