Canister Shelf

Found these 1950's canister set but they were too bulky to just sit on countertop so I built a shelf to hold them. Had to curve the back to fit against the wall. Love the wax paper holder. Have had my eye on finding one at flea markets. Very nice find.

Love the 50s canister set and shelf. A great idea! I've got my eye on a set of three for my wife that are a perfect size for the Overlander. But you forgot the clock! That clock is pretty rad, too!

The Vernonware set is also cool.

I too have some... things

We too have been on the lookout for items for the trailer. To date we have acquired a wall clock w/stainless steel atomic particle orbit rings for the wall above the side gaucho, an aqua wall mounted ice grinder, a pink GE table clock/radio, a 50's floor to ceiling spring loaded stand lamp w/ orange/white/aqua shades (we have added a stand lamp base to make it free standing) with three way switch, and a set of tabletop salt and pepper shakers that are advertisements for a propane dealer. You guessed it... shaped like propane tanks in gray plastic. More items include 50's/60's ThermoServe cups, bowls, glasses in all the blue, orange, pink, aqua, yellow, and green colors from back in the day. The newest thing was a new birdhouse from Gander Mountain in the design of an Airstream with the port hole window in the door giving the little birds access to the interior. Ed

I agree... Pictures would be great!

Jezibels, The Atomic clock was a google and ebay search for atomic pattern dinnerware that turned up a manufacturer in the UK that I bought it from. I will see if I can find the contact info for you and post it here.

Mike, I would love to post pictures if the wife ever gets the digital camera working again. Hopefully soon. Happy Trails, Ed

Vintage, vintage, vintage!

We have vintage spun aluminum storage canisters in our 1961 Bambi. Besides the vintage "cake taker" which we use to store paper plates, we think our favorite piece is the "Grease" container. We're still trying to figure out what we can store in it besides its original intended contents.

We love our vintage George Nelson for Herman Miller fiberglass flying saucer lamp that we have in our 1974 Tradewind. It's huge and every time we travel with it we say a silent prayer that it doesn't get damaged in transit. We also travel with a set of vintage Knoll Bertoia "diamond" chairs that we set outside along with a low-slung boomerang table once we are at our final destination.

Thanks for posting everyone. This thread is awesome!

Happy and safe journeys,

My mom's old aluminum folding chairs-recovered & embroidered

I dug my mom's (1950 or so) aluminum folding chairs out of the attic and made new covers out of Sunbrella Sling fabric. Our daughter did the embroidery for us. We have 8 of them.

After exploring numerous antique radio options, we decided to get a mini jukebox replica that plays MP3's. We just didn't think that putting an antique tube radio in an Airstream would be a good idea. This is a replica of a classic 50s Wurlitzer made by Sega. It even takes coins and has a mechanism that picks up mini 45s and places them on a turntable!

The lights flash with the music and it has speaker outputs for stereo purists. Here's a link to the details including a video.

This will be a great addition to our '58 Overlander.

Splinter, we have the same clock. We love it, just the right size and looks great in an Airstream. We also collect a lot of hammered aluminum - trays, bowls, coasters etc. I'll have to get some pics. We also have a great vintage aluminum bread box.

Does your juke box play "in the Navy", Mello Mike? Gotta have that one!
And Bredlo, love the stripper! Beautiful canoe!
We have old aluminum glasses with the original colors from my parents. They were what we used camping when I grew up. We've picked up a few more as we've found them. Definite '50's vintage, I think!

This will be a great addition to our '58 Overlander.

Mike, Carol & I have the real Wurlitzer OMT (One More Time) Bubbler Juke Box that was sold in the early '80's and plays 45's! It has all the rotating lights and bubble tubes working when it's running and it sounds great in our familyroom! Carol calls it my $2,000.00 night light! That's what we paid that for it when we bought it from the local Sears store. I have had offers up to four times that amount since then! Ed

Wow, Ed! I'd love to see pics. I'd love to get an old Juke Box for the home, too.
