Question End caps - vinyl or what - how to clean

I am trying to redo an Excella and the end caps - the part above the sofa and above the twin beds - has turned a shade of salmon from a nice white and tan. What can I do to bring back the original colors?

Age & UV's have changed the color. You'll need to repaint them. I've done it a bunch of times on client trailers. The key is to use a "plastics adhesion promoter" along with a quality two part automotive paint.

The inside endcaps are vacuum formed ABS plastic. ABS degrades with time and heat as well as exposure to ozone in the air. The rubber in the compound has a tendency to turn yellow or orange. Collin is right that you can not repair it. Some people have developed a bleaching compound that does help, but I would recommend painting. The choice of paint should be considered carefully, since some oil or solvent based paints can further degrade the plastic.

Thanks

Thanks to both of you! What is the best method of application on the automotive paint? I don't have much of a spray capability,, only a quart spray attachment for my compressor. Is it rollable to add texture to it?

I use a HVLP spray gun with the quart cup. HVLP stands for "high volume low pressure" so it'll have lower overspray, however you'll hasve to mask off everything & hang some plastic to keep paint fumes etc from going back into the rest of the trailer. They are available very cheaply from Harbor Freight.

Thanks, I will do more research on it and give it a try. As for Harbor Freight - I can't go in there for awhile. I went in last week for a $4 item and came out with $47 in stuff I couldn't do without.

Too funny, I don't have a store nearby so i shop online. My policy is that I'll only buy when they have a deep discount sale. As 99% of their stuff is made of "Chinesium", you really have to watch what you buy.

If you can gain access to the back of the crack, you'll have better success fixing it. I typically drill a small hole in the end of the crack then rivet a patch/bridge to the back side. I use countersunk rivets so they'll disappear when I do the final finishing.

I too have the same problem on my 66 Trade Wind and the front end cap is already painted. Do I have to remove the paint already on the end cap before using the plastics adhesion promoter ?

You're going to need to lightly sand the whole thing & if any paint flakes off, apply adhesion promoter in that area, then paint.
