Double to twins - mid ship

Since I have had trouble finding my "perfect" trailer, I have concluded that I need to widen my search. I have been looking for an early '70's tradewind or safari with mid twins. I have found a tradewind with the mid ship double and cabinetry across from it. What I am wondering is, has anyone removed the existing bed and cabinets and replaced them with twin beds? As much as I love my wife, we have agreed that sleeping in twins would be more comfortable over a 2 week camping holiday. Thanks in advance.

PS: if anyone who reads this is looking to sell their above mentioned trailer please let me know

I'm perplexed that you've hit such a stretch of double bed units. I've found that people find so many Airstreams of this period with twins, then ask about converting the other direction. This isn't about twin vs. double -- we chose twin beds for our '06 Safari. My impression is that there are plenty of twin arrangements 'out there' -- maybe more of those produced than double bed units. In common with the silver Airstream line, the easiest reference I can put my finger on is this type of twin arrangement -- from one of overlander64's Argosy manuals reproduced in his photo gallery.

A few years back when we were looking for a mid-70's Trade Wind or Safari most of the units I saw were twins. I think the number ran about 4 to 1 in favor of the twins. I waited until the right double came along.

You may have to look beyond Alberta to find the "perfect" trailer. May be that the climate there encourages double beds!! If you don't find one, modifying a double arrangement to twins would not be difficult, but you would loose closet and vanity space. You could also install higher quality beds than the original foam versions. Darol

My '72 Tradewind is a Twin. This is all I saw locally when looking. I suspect if you look a bit more, some twin configurations will present themselves. Good luck!
