dinette table leg and wall brackets

We have a 2019 25 ft. RB Senerity. Love it! I've heard that the dinette should be lowered down into the sleeping position when traveling down the road. Table leg folded folded up with dinette table resting on the wooden frame to prevent the leg and wall brackets from becoming loose from road vibration. It's an extra step when preparing the AS to travel. Any comments?

I left mine up with a folded piece of carpet under the leg to keep it from gouging the floor while towing.

Now have a power pedestal and abandoned the folding leg and wall bracket.

30k+ miles towing have never lowered mine. Have never had a problem.

Our table stays up all the time. No problems during travel. I do have a rubber furniture leg carpet protector under the leg to make a larger surface area against the floor. The leg was making an indentation in the flooring material.

I have a 2017 27 for Flying Cloud. My owner's manual says the Following:

"Airstream recommends that, during travel, the table be left in the upright position"

In our trailer, two table wall bracket screws would come loose and extend, which would prevent the lowering of the table.

Finally decided to replace the screws with Olympic rivets, which once shaved and polished with a Dremel, look just like an original buck rivet and solidly hold the table brackets in place, no matter the road vibration.

Wonder why Airstream chose screws instead of rivets for those brackets...

Poor Design. We also have a 2018 25 foot International serenity FBT We had Ultimate Airstream replace our table with a coring table & telescoping pedestals . Problems when traveling collapsible leg bouncing causing Rippling-floor damage. We had them replace nightstand with Corian, bathroom counter matching the kitchen Corian . Also put in large vessel sink in bathroom, and covered refrigerator with laminate matching cabinets in the International serenity we also replaced all of our lounge cushions. And a new stove and oven set up Eliminating microwave giving a flush counter . We truly have our Airstream dream. Replacing the damage floor is costly $8000 to $10,000. As I noted in previous text after Ultimate Airstream did Our make over it now is our perfect Airstream . We were also able to sell the microwave, the table and the complete lounge cushions.
We upgraded to all that’s in the previous text and have the most luxurious Airstream we Ever could’ve dreamed.

It can be manual or power but overall must be sturdy. Ours gets used as both a table and bed.

Once we replaced the wall bracket screws with Olympic rivets, I drilled a small hole in the front of each wall bracket to screw in a "jam screw" (a short metal screw) which jams the table bracket against the wall bracket and prevents the table from moving or shaking when we use it.

We rarely lower the table (and don't have any floor damage) so I don't need to remove the two jam screws (which only takes a few seconds if necessary).

We leave ours up. But, as some have noted, the floor began wearing under the leg. We placed a doorknob wall protection plate ( large flat circular stick on ) on the floor and all is well.

I keep mine up, but have found that the years of lowering and raising it seems to loosen and weaken them the most. One of the mounts finally gave up the ghost this fall, so i had to buy larger screws and replaced them all, so i should be good for a few more years....

We traveled for years in our 2007 25FB Safari SE with the table up. The only issue I ever noted was the "less than solid" stance when we use the tsble. I cured that by installing a pneumatic tabke pedestal from Springfield. It's the same as used by AS at the factory for the highest trim levels. It's not cheap but resolves the "shaky" feeling. I afixed mine so the wall brackwys engage as well for a backup connection.

Went with a 12v powered one. Came from the clearance page of a Marine supply store a year or two ago. Has a dome-shaped pedestal that conceals the motor and has limit switches to stop it full up or full down position. A reversing switch with center-off position controls it.


Have added a U-channel to the wall and a nylon roller follower on the tabletop to reduce movement. Holds it solid and straight no matter where I set the height.

Makes it more useful for dining all the way up or set lower to desk height for using my laptop.

It should be left up while traveling. We had ours down once while traveling last summer and the catch that locks the leg in the folded position broke. Now the leg does not lock in either the up or folded position. The result is that the table will collapse if the leg is inadvertently bushed, or touched.

We leave ours up. We put our entryway mat under the leg when towing to protect the floor.
