Convertible bed solution

Hi all - just wanted to share our solution to the couples sleeping situation. We created a twin xl platform bed with large storage drawers underneath. Super comfortable for single traveler. When together we prefer to sleep together so we have a pullout “extender” and an extender mattress that makes it a full xl. Plenty of room and comfortable. The extender mattress fits behind the living room gaucho or can be used as a bolster to create a day bed. Click image for larger version

No, we had both mattresses custom made locally. Wanted to be sure they matched in comfort & height. $300 for both. We use a thick quilted mattress pad over both, so I don’t feel the seam between them.

Hi Lisa
Thank you for your post. It is what I needed. We are in the process ox renovating a 1967 Overlander. We are starting to work on the bed frame. Could you provide detailed mesurements for the frame and foam please? Are you still happy with the comfort of the bed?
Thank a bunch
Chris

Check out IKEA for day beds

We use an IKEA folding mattress that is very comfortable and fits our original goucho in a 1965 caravel. They have a number of good options that you may want to investigate.

Thank you I will look into an Ikea folding mattress. That sounds like a great solution.
