Thomas2, Right under the seat cushion, there is a wooden piece that looks like trim, but that is the piece that actually pulls out to make the bed. If I remember correctly, ours took a fairly good tug the first time we did it too. Don't worry, I forgot about the under bed storage (lifting the queen bed up) for about a year- LOL!!! Bonus find :-)
What DMP54 said. First few times I thought I would break something I was pulling so hard. I grab it at shoulder width so the force is spread out evenly.
