Can you paint the Tambours?

We have a 71 Overlander with the dark paneling, the tambours work well enough but the color is not my best choice...has anyone painted them? If you have how have they worked after.

I painted the tambours over the litchen and dinette in my 82 ltd. No problems so far. I taped up good and sprayed them.

I'm not really sure what a tambour is, but welcome to the forums and congratulations on your first post.

Absolutely...we did our front tambour and it turned out great. Just tape up to avoid overspray...we used Krylon Plastic paint from Walmart...no runs, no drips, no errors!

I would spray, not brush, the paint on. There is a resource for different colored tambors, if you decide to change them out:
Curvwood Veneer - CurvTambour - Tambour Wallcovering Products - Curvwood fine Wood Veneer products, Wood Wallcovering, Tambour solid wood, veneer, metal tambour panels, Paperback veneer, DuraBack, Peel and Stick wood veneer, Wood on Wood veneer

We've had good success with painting our tambours using Krylon Plastic paint as well. This will be our 4th camping season with the painted tambours and the paint is holding up very nicely and the tambours still work.

Ditto what others have said. We used Krylon (IIRC) for plastic spray, on the front locker like Roadrunner and Valspar on the bath tambours. Both are holding up well after a couple of years.
