Bed size is not what AS says it is

I noticed my bed was about 4 inches smaller than the wood platform it sits on. I measured the actual mattress and it is 48" wide.
I thought that seemed wrong as one of the reasons I went with the 22 is it had a 52" bed rather than the 48" on the 19'.

Did someone at the dealer swap my mattress out before purchase?

I know this seems knit picky buy size does matter.

Does anyone else have a current 22' they can measure? I wonder if AS can define a width of a bed by the platform and not the actual mattress? I hope not.

Every piece of laytex foam from my '73 is stenciled in 1" letters with its part number, ie: 09012 for the gaucho bolster cushion, etc.

I have never gotten that deep in a new Airstream, the salespeople frown on that sort of thing, but they may still assign discrete part numbers that can be cross referenced ...

When I had my 22' International (predecessor to the 22' Safari), my 52" mattress tended to overhang the plywood that it rested on. My mattress was more like 54". That was a problem in that whenever someone sat on the edge, the mattress tended to migrate off the plywood platform. I ended up putting velcro strips on the plywood to better anchor the mattress.

I would hazard a guess that you were given the wrong mattress.

That's good to know. I will see if I can find a P/N.

Thanks

My bet is that someone put the wrong matress in. If I'm not mistaken, the 19 is still the narrow body, while the 22 is wide body. Sounds like someone put a matress for a 19 in your unit. Get the factory to send the correct matress.

YEP! Just heard from the dealer. AS put the wrong mattress in. They sent me the correct one and I will have it by this weekend.
It was good response.
