Are these original?

I love these wall sconces...are they original? Does anyone know if they are? If not does anyone know where to find ones similar?

Thanks in advance....

They are 12 volt also right? If anyone has these and wants to get rid of them please let me know. If you happen to see them on ebay please give me a heads up!
Thanks,
Heather

They are original as Steph replied , however I believe not originally used as early as your unit. There are single and tandem versions and they were made with a brushed brass and an aluminum finish. They are really nice reading lights and have 3 light levels ( like a tri-light ).
I have a few I'm thinking of installing in my rig , but should I go a different lighting direction, I'll let you know.

Heather - for the lights you might want to try the RV wreckers. If you do a search on the forum you will find lists of the wreckers. I found a set of three at a local flea market for $2 and sold them for a whopping $2 profit. I still feel guilty

Sorry not trying to be argumentative, but they were in '67...we have a similar ones in our '64 and they are on most mid-60's I've seen. You can see pictures of them in the '67 GT pictures on the vintage archives.

Shari:
(forgive me for calling you Steph!) You are correcto. They were stock in '67's and I've seen versions as early as '64 with a slightly different mount.
Just haven't seen them as early as '62's.

Yeah, 62's have the older fiberglass/parchment or metal grid lenses which are very cool!!!

No worries...just wanted to confirm they are original.

Hi,
I have two of these over the beds in my '56 Overlander!! So, I guess
these weren't origonal for this year?? Mine have the "fiberglass
parchment" shades.

No, the fiberglass/parchment shade version is most likely original for a 50's. The spun aluminum, solid metal shade (like in the linked photo, post #1) is more the late 60's version. Ours are zolatoned metal which is, I believe, the transition model.

Shari -

Mine are the zolatoned metal (doubles) also. Definitely OEM.

Hamb7 - Last set I saw on eBay were from calredcoat. They went for just under $40 for 2 doubles and 2 singles.

Are these original?

Greetings Heather!

If you are looking for something similar that doesn't have to be an original issue of the pictured lamp, there is a very close approximation that is available new. When refurbishing my '64 Overlander, two of the original lamps jumped out of their sockets regardless of how much repair or adjustment so I asked the folks at Ace Fogdall RV in Cedar Falls, IA about replacements. Florence and Christy in the parts department found new lamps very similar in design in brushed brass finish that I have been thrilled with -- both in terms of appearance as well as functionality. You can see them in the photo of my Overlander's bedroom below (they are 12-volt fixtures designed for RVs):

Good luck with your search!

Kevin
