2007 Floorplans

I had the opportunity to look at several new models this week and several of them impressed even this Vintage got-to-do-it-myself freak. The dealer was kind enough to provide brochures with floorplan drawings and I thought I'd present them here for good ideas to other Vintage full monte types who are looking for ideas. I was particularly struck by the 20' Safari with the dinette across from the door--really felt open and efficient.

I'm inserting only the 19-25' range, but you can PM me for the 16-17 and 27-34 plans.

Curiously, that layout is verrry similiar to my '56 Safari with the kitchen & bath together at one end, the dinette in the middle & bed in the other end - except our hitch is on the kitchen/bath end ~

Shari,

I really like that layout except for the full time double bed. I'd get real tired of sitting at the dinette or lying on the bed.

Does your '56 have a fold-out gaucho?

Zep, thanks for the picts!

Well, right now it has nothing! But once it's put back together it'll have twins in the back behind the dinette. Thease will double as two sofas facing each other during the day with bolsters for the bed linens.

Here's the layout ours had originally and we will be putting back.

This isn't our trailer...but the bed/dresser layout is the same as ours was and will be again. And we have a bunk.

Here is a layout from a 1950 cruiser that I really like.

...and picts of a similar one listed on eBay recently that I was having REAL trouble resisting.

Zep,

Thanks for posting. The corner galley has long been my favorite. Don't know why it isn't seen more often.

1970 18' Caravel

My Caravel interior is a little unique in that I wanted a permanent bed. I also felt like it was really a two-person camper, so the dinette could be modified to allow some extension of the countertop. The bench side of the dinette is wide enough for two--it there is a fourth person for dinner a folding chair can be placed at the end of the table extension. The angle of the bench seat allows for more length and provides space for the "elbow shelf" under the front windows. All the overhead storage is new, but generally follows the orignal Caravel scheme.

The bed is obviously unusual, but the shape allows for reasonable access to the wet bath. The narrow end is the foot of the bed, which works even for two 5' 9" adults. It would be difficult, however, for anyone approaching 6' or more.

The wet bath was modified with shelves in the forward end for darkroom work, but with the advent of digital those will come out eventually.

My guess is that most trailer layouts have the galley over the axles as the galley is the heaviest part of the trailer with all the appliances & such. Having it front makes for a heavy tongue weight and back makes for a bunch of weght behind the axle. I'm not sure what our tongue weight was with the front galley, but we are also adding black and grey tanks, so I'm sure it's going to go up once we are through.
