1977 Airstream

We are restoring a 1977 Airstream and we are currently working on the kitchen. Went down to the local hardware store to buy a coupling to repair the water line to the faucet. Discovered that standard copper couplings were not the right size for what I thought was 3/8 and 1/4 lines. Does anyone know where to find couplings for these old lines?

Try refrigeration tubing for A/C I know they used a size at one time that is not standard now. It is also possible that it has been frozen solid and expanded. You may be able to fine it at a RV store.

Welcome to the Forum.

You will certainly come upon many more conundrums in your quest for restoration.

I tried several types of repairs on the original copper lines, found the one that worked the best was to flare the connection.

Pictures would certainly help with your future questions.

Good luck and best wishes to you for a rapid completion.

Give attention to the maxim in my signature line...it was developed and proven over several years of work on the '87 MoHo and the '78 Sovereign.

copper lines

I just had mine repaired and the lines stumped the
plumber also? he said they turned out to be refrigeration
lines and Lowes carries the correct sizes. Mine is a 77 as
well.

from my own experiences I need to agree with the frozen expanded idea, the standard size would be 3/8 but freezing would increase the size substantially making all line's none conforming. never heard of the lines being refrigeration lines. could have saved me a lot of time refitting some areas. will keep that in mind for later repairs.
