Question 1976 TradeWind bathroom mirror

I need help? The bathroom mirror in our '76 TradeWind is not staying attached to the braket that holds it on the shelf-if that makes sense? It is the orginal mirror. I took the whole thing down and found that the shelf, frame the holds this mirror is pretty flimsy. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do? Is it important to keep the original mirror and if not what other suggestions would you offer.
Thanks,
