Where to put your shoes

Greetings

A few weeks ago I took my family camping and came up with a new challenge
where to put shoes. It was raining so we took them off at the door but it dawned on me that surely full-time streamers may have a solution for such things.

Is there some kind of shoe locker or tray? What do you use for shoes inside/outside the AS?

You should have one of these under your sink. They are standard issue in airstreams.

Whoa! Well they must have forgotten that one when they made mine. That must be in models with the walk in closet.

Man, I would take it back. I have three girls plus my wife to contend with so ours comes in handy!

We installed a typical wood paper towel holder horizontally on the side of the cabinet next to the door. Just slip the shoes inside vertically, toes down. It holds two pair. Works great. I have a pic and will figure out how to include it in the post.

I know someone who but a bar in a similar fashion along their door. I'll see if I can find a pic.

We keep ours in the drawer under the dinette, right next to the door. Works great. We didn't start out this way, we advanced to it through trial and error.

I usualy wear flip-flops and just leave them outside.

Don't have a trailer yet, but I imagine I'll put mine under the steps. If it works the same as camping it will keep critters well away from the domicle! I can't see even a starving bear wanting to get too close to those puppies!!!!

In anticipation of getting an airstream someday, I've been saving a couple of old pair of sneakers to put underneath each corner when camping. No mice, no racoons, no bears ........... no visitors!!!!

And when we go hiking we never ever get lost....we just look for where the buzzards are circling!

Barb found a plastic tray about a foot wide by 2 1/2 feet. She puts it down next to the sink cabinet just inside the door. That way I can sit on the dinette seat and take them off. Somehow her shoes magically come off when she steps inside and slippers magically appear on her feat. I don't know how she does that. I imagine a tray that works can be found in dollar stores and other places that have cheap stuff.

Of course, if she weren't watching me, I'd just walk around and worry about the dirty floor another day.

we use a large plastic bin with a lid. It sits outside and with the lid it doesn't matter if it rains. Kids throw their shoes in it on the way in, and get them on the way out. I only bring 2 pairs. Keen sandals and flip flops. One less decision to make when I wake up..

Bin goes just inside the door when traveling.

How about a shoe tree? Won’t fit “inside” but enough room for Imelda Marco’s shoe collection...

X2 on the plastic storage box with lid. I use the black and yellow ones. It keeps the shoes dry and doubles as an outside table.

It seems to boil down to leave them outside or put them in or on something inside.

In the interest of promoting sophomoric humor, (1) don't wear shoes anymore, you'll save a lot of money over the years, (2) throw them in the sink (3) put them on your feet, (4) don't go outside, (5) put them in the oven (good for quick drying too), (6) hire a servant to follow you cleaning up the mud, (7) take the batteries out of your hearing aid so you don't hear your wife yelling at you about your muddy shoes.

Perhaps, if those carefully crafted suggestions don't work for you, go to a big box store like Lowe's or a dollar store and see what they have that may work—seeing things can sometimes bring a good idea.

Move to California, less rain, less decision on shoes. I leave mine under the trailer.
