Reynold, The More We Explore's 2007 23D

My wife and I have been fulltiming in our 2010 fc30 since early 2016. This year we decided to downsize to a 23D and see if we could make it work. This thread is all about "Reynold", our 2007 23D Ocean Breeze. We do far more video work than pictures, but I'll try to keep this thread updated with both.

The day we picked it up from Airstream Las Vegas. They literally rolled out the red carpet for us.

Bringing him back to Salt Lake to do some mods before we hit the road.

Congrats so happy for you both. You are such a inspiring and upbeat couple.

The second photo is funny as it looks like you have a ginormous sheet of styrene or solar on top of the van.

Safe travels back east.

You might be interested to check out a book called Fat Tire Trails and Tales by Cosmic Ray. Its a legendary Arizona bike trail map book with hysterically funny illustrations as their legend.

Hope to ride with you in the future. We'll start dusting our bikes off.

Good luck with the new trailer! Figured you would get a 25 but nice to see you decided on the 23 for your excursions. We actually walked your 30' at DAP (same for A Streamin Life's 30) before you guys ever saw them. Small world. We met Denny about 3 yrs ago and just picked up our 28 FC last week (MoB1 = Mobile Basecamp I) which we mulled over between a 25, 28, and 30 over the years before deciding that the 28 is it. Keep enjoying nature and life for all it has to offer. We'll keep watching your journey while we continue our own! P.S. I want to lift the 28 a little (3" Dexter), plus go solar later. Already have a NH composting toilet installed so we're about to test that out (not full timers yet).

We were originally looking for a 25ss ocean breeze, but in 7 months of searching, we couldn't find a single clean one. The 23D has always haunted us because of its tiny size and footprint (it's 3' shorter than a 25 and 6" narrower). We kept dismissing the 23d because of the tiny fridge, front dinette, and tiny grey tank. We were also concerned about not being able to fit enough solar on top.

After a lot of research, it looks like we'll be able to address all of those issues except for the grey tank. That's going to take some even more creative water use. It'll be an exciting experiment to see if we can make it work for us.

Hey you two, best of luck with Reynold, very cute moniker!

We think you will enjoy the smaller Airstream. Welcome to the club for those of us who have downsized - people thought we were crazy. We started w a 31 then a 29 and now loving our new 25! Of course having Fred you may not see a significant size difference anyway.

Good things come in small packages!
Safe travels & happy camping ⛺️

The red carpet is a nice touch. We're shifting from Ontario to the SW in late November. Perhaps we can hook up for a ride and a chat sometime this winter.

Steve,
Your 23D will serve y'all well. Bed takes some getting use to. We love our 23D and are not full time Lony about 100 nights per year

Consider a better mattress or add a topper.

Also consider an insulated pad on the aluminum wall all the way around the bed...don't ask me why I think this is a darn good idea!

Fine setup you have there.

Wonder if you might lift the 23D. Might match the tow rig a bit better.

Why did we downsize from a 30 footer to a 23 footer?

Have been watching your YouTube stream for some time. Don’t own an airstream yet, but recently purchased a Sea eagle after seeing your review.
