New Big Girl Avatar and wrapped my pipes today

Hi All,

I have 2005 Safari Bunkhouse trailer.

I've updated from stick drawing of truck and safari avatar to real big girl picture.

And...

I'm camped in Coffeyville Kansas work camping at amazon.com till Christmas. I just wrapped my pipes for the first time. Previously I did all my below freezing camping without plumbing connections.

Question: The large sewer pipe that leads from tank to just before flexible pipe connection point has some kind of wire leading to it. This wire is out of site unless you are on the ground inspecting the exposed pipes.

Anyone know what this wire is? some kind of heating wire? Is there a switch to activate it?

Can you post a picture of the wire in question? That might help identify it and it's use.

Ditto on the photo request. I've redone the plumbing on 5 Airstreams and haven't seen any kind of wire associated with the dump pipes. But they were all vintage models.

Do you have copper or PEX? I'm just curious about the plumbingin the newer Airstreams.

We have a switch and a little light located right near the dump valve... could the wire be for the switch/light?

I just spent a bit of time winterizing our 2005 and the only exposed wire is for the tank sensor. There is another that is hidden for the dump valve light.
The tanks in 05 are heated via furnace ducts, not an electric heat strip I believe.

the water pipes are pex,

but the joints and connecting pieces are copper.

the small connecting sections attached 2 the fixtures are also copper.

most likely THAT wire is running 2 an rj11 ? connecter for the black tank sensor.

on some models the black tank sensor is located IN the last bit of 3 inch black pipe just BEFORE the main tank valve...

and on the models plumbed this way the sewer pipes are VERY low to the ground

and need attention when parking so as 2 NOT drag or bust them...

There is always the possibility that the "wire" was , in fact, the safety connection on the termination cap......the one that connects the cap to the fitting, preventing a possible loss. A new owner could make an ID mistake.

Its been raining, I've been working nights and I wasn't sure how to post a pic. Okay enough excuses
I think 2 air was correct about the purpose of this wire. I posted the pic to the Photo page. It's the only pic by me sorry I did not know how to attach to this message though.

I'm going to give it a try....

yes that appears 2b a FLIUD level sensor.

nice WRAP job too!

if the goal is to PROTECT that sensor and fluid right there from freezing, i'd suggest MORE insulation...

or warming that spot somehow.
