How to find a caravan heading west

I was doing some searching on heading west for the winter, but didn't see any specific threads on that.

How does one find like-minded folks regarding caravaning out west?
I don't have any specific dates, other than to leave sometime after the fall leaf roundup, and end up somewhere warm and dry. Thinking a month in PHX and a couple months in Temecula, Ca. Jan, Feb, March
I am not opposed to driving the A/S west, parking it and the truck, and then commuting from Ohio, after the holidays.

Additionally, I am having a hard time finding places that will take a 1973 airstream. The outside doesn't look trashy, not that I haven't tried , but it does look tired. The inside is all new. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Thoughts?

You will certainly find plenty of parks that are happy to have your vintage unit stay. Who wants to stay where they are so closed minded anyway.
I have wandered into a few places with these restrictions in place, unknowingly and been allowed to stay for the night. This in my 345 motorhome.

Wandering by yourself is not a bad way to go. There are many interesting friendly folks to meet along the way.

Happy Trails, Richard

Only one time have I come across a park with age restriction. As soon as I said Airstream they said no problem. That was three years ago in Florida. I had a nice shiny 1964 Bambi II at the time.

We have never been asked the age. But then we only stay for one to three days.

Long term stays are likely a different set of questions and paper to sign. If I had a park, I'd be picky too. We talked to a fellow who says he keeps telling park owners that they are killing the RV boom with all the permanent occupants that they encouraged to settled in over the downturn to pay the bills. When new folks can't find a place to camp, they get frustrated and are more likely to complain about the experience and go home, than to fix what's broke and move on to the next adventure.

Where to stay? Brother talked about this take it and leave it plan. So far, it's not happened. We talked about it as well, and found we'd rather have Glimmer with us. But then we would rather drive than fly. Airplanes fall out of the sky, require long waits at the terminal, and cramp your style. Who would ever say an AS cramped your style?

If it was me, I'd travel to all the Western NPs, cool snowbird destinations, and wine making areas. Maybe a pass up the coast to the Redwoods. They are fun when it's raining. If I was tired of travel, I'd store the rig in the least expensive indoor facility I could find. If any repairs were required, I'd find the AS Dealer with the best service department to maintain/store it. (Looks like JC has a lot of trailers stored/waiting for service). But I would not leave it anywhere long.

Travel safe. Pat
