1st month in our AS

Question? How do you keep the much boots and other shoes organized in your door space? Day 2 of rain two more expected ? Wife has shoes piled up left and right of door! Just your experiences?

Good suggestion for the washable mat. We also use an all-cotton construction hall runner on the main "hall" floor, to catch the worst of sand etc. from active daily use. It is very easy to take outside and shake out, and to wash when needed. Fairly lightweight, it folds up to a small size to be stored in the tow vehicle when we want the main floor to be more "presentable." Also, this hall runner does a good job of absorbing minor liquid spills.

Fewer shoes too . . . using clogs near the trailer works . . . with heavier duty shoes in the tow vehicle for trips into town and so forth. Our 20' does not have a lot of extra room for shoes.

We store our shoes and boots outside in a tray under the trailer, and wear our Halflinger shoes as indoor slippers. Getting in and out of the trailer involves a bit of logistics but our floor stays clean

I use one of those canvas/mesh, two layer shoe racks on the screen door to hold sunglasses, sunscreen, binoculars, LEDs and other gear, but that could be used for two pair of your wife's shoes...

PS, don't use their hooks, just zip-tie it to the screen.

A pile of shoes near the door drove us crazy, too. What we did was bought a collapsible hassock on Amazon. It is basically a nice looking storage box that we can use to store shoes and is great to prop your feet up on when sitting on the couch. If we need more room, we can collapse it and store it away.

Boots have been standing up by the fire extinguisher, i plan to put up a couple 3m hooks and an elastic strap to keep them from falling over all the time

We keep a hand woven basket just inside the door and throw our shoes in it.

Yes, fewer shoes. Keep sandals and walking shoes accessible. Others in a plastic bin, under the bed.

We don't winter camp but... spring, summer, fall - each person has a Rubber Maid shoe box for boots, sneakers, etc. that is kept under the AS, next to the steps. Slippers are kept in the boxes too, so you just have to put on the slippers and your boots go into your box. We have an outdoor carpet to keep things clean. If no wind, we have the awning down so that you can have camp chairs to sit in while you change footwear. Works for us!!!!

We have a 30' Classic with a couch across the front of the trailer. We have an old wooden footlocker in front of the couch where we store shoes and boots. Doubles as a coffee table / ottoman.

We either go sock foot, or wear moccasins inside the trailer. Moccasins don't leave the trailer, so they're always clean-ish.

On the 2017 28' International there is a cubby (that I believe is where people put their collapsible Zip Dee chairs) that serves as an ideal spot for shoe storage. It's deep enough to store heavier hiking shoes in the back and shoes we wear around the campsite up front. Keeping with what we learned when we lived in Japan and the Serenity motif, we don't wear shoes in the trailer.

We keep shoes in 2 places. Just this year I got rid of the CANVAS shoe/handbag storage because it got in the way. We had it by the door over the magazine rack. Now we keep all the shoes in two of the 3 storage drawers under the bed (the other at the end of the bed has dirty clothes in it). The 2nd place is for our Burkenstocks and whatever other pair we're wearing that day, changing out when we come in the door, in a narrow 2 shelf cabinet, right across from the door next to the foldout dining table.
That worked really good for us but we don't full-time and have a Classic 31 w/lots of storage.

On the opposite of the spectrum of cheap and easy is this.

I made a custom full width slide drawer that mounts underneath the AS. When we get to a campsite, the carpet mat comes out. Then the space is free to hold our shoes which will stay dry and protected under the AS.

It barely hangs down any lower than the stairs. My AS is also lifted 3" so clearance is a non-concern.
