I found a three tiered wire rack that we fastened (zip tied) to the inside of the screen door. It holds 6 pairs of shoes - wife size or hubby can have 2 shelves with a pair each. Keeps the floor tidy. We only keep the foot ware that is currently being used in the door. Rest is in the drawer at the end of the bed. This unit looks like a large version of something you would have on a wall to hold file folders or mail. Works great. Found it at a housewares store.

I made a custom full width slide drawer that mounts underneath the AS. When we get to a campsite, the carpet mat comes out. Then the space is free to hold our shoes which will stay dry and protected under the AS.

It barely hangs down any lower than the stairs. My AS is also lifted 3" so clearance is a non-concern.

To kpm, the drawer can be slid open to either side. I took an easy strategy to latch it closed with a PTO pins as stops on the slide rail.

We keep a plastic boot tray under the dinette, slide it out to take off our wet shoes, then slide it back under so they aren't in the way. We also use it to keep the dog's water bowl during dry weather. This one is similar to ours:
