winterizing a 1974/no bypass

Need help, my Ambassador does not have a bypass on water heater. I can't figure out where the bypass can go, can't get good access to lines. Anybody have experience with this model? Otherwise I have to pump alot of pink stuff.
Thanks

Copper tubing! In a tight spot. You could make a temporary bypass for the water heater, undo the copper tubing flare nuts, IF you have enough room attach a 90° 1/2" mpt x 1/2" flare fitting to the flare nuts and a short 1/2" x 1/2" sink hook-up hose between, then the heater is out of the system. Compressed air does a good job of winterizing (watch the P.S.I.) blow-out plugs are cheap and if you do each appliance individually you can have enough force to push most of the water out....but nothing like a little antifreeze, don't forget the "p" traps and drain all the tanks.
