What's the Airstreamer's Tire Cover of Choice?

Want to pick up some tire covers. Any recommendations?

Thanks Bob and Plasma. I just did a google search to find a recommended tire cover and found this post. Timely find! Camping World, right now, has them on sale for $18.97 AND also with Buy One Get One Free! How cool is that!?!?! I just ordered a set.

FWIW, I have that style of wheel chocks but I haven't removed them from the box. I also have the Anderson cam-style leveling kit and thought it was sufficient so I was going to return these Bal Deluxe Scissor Chocks to minimize the crap I carry ... I've just decided to keep them.

Thanks,
Rich

Was just at PPLs new shop in Cleburne. Quite a range of selections. Should also be on website.

In the 1970-80s it was popular to use a piece of the same material as the awning with a snap on kit. Zip Dee might be able to fill that order.

So here we are 2 years later ... What was that tire size so I can order new tire covers? I did a google search and happened upon my own forgotten post. Got it ... 30”-32”.

I called Camping World to order a set — they’re on sale again. That said, I’m going to upgrade to the more expensive “Classic Accessories” brand, reviews are better — hoping they’ll last longer. Not sure if anyone is using the Classic Accessories brand or not ... got any comparison to the cheaper “Elements” covers?

Now, need to make a note so I don’t need to look this up again...

Thanks,
Rich

Hi

Tire covers are a "use and discard" item. They live their life in the sun muck and mud. Get the cheap ones on Amazon / Anywhere and toss them after a year or two. Anything over $25 for a set is to much to spend.

Amen to that!

My set of white ones lasted about 5 years, then basically fell apart and delaminated. Always trapped dirt and leaves, carried them in a separate box to keep truck bed clean.

Have a set of gray ones now. Do measure the width of the tire or the distance across dual axle sets from front to back to get the right size. Or, just go for the biggest size--makes it easier to get them on.

My current set is gray, because there was a raging debate on the forums over whether white or black was a good idea. It came down to black fabric lasts longer, but the tires underneath are kept warmer than with white ones. When I bought these, white and gray were same price, and black ones were a bit more. We'll see how it goes. They are already collecting lots of dirt.

I do note that covered tires do seem to last longer, at least in our High Desert storage area. Sun is rather brutal up here.

Well if I used them...……..I'd have to put them on the truck too. And the car at home. AND the boat trailers. I do my best to wear out the tread before the sun can deteriorate the sidewalls.

i got some when we purchase our 05 classic in 2016 the PO had them on the tires. Not sure how old they were when we got them Im thinking at least 1 yr old at that point. THey are now just about ready to be replaced. the vinyl exterior is starting to crack but look like they will last through the winter.

One thing that might be helpful would be to spray the 303 protectant on them beginning of each summer season to help protect them and do the tires as well.

I would think they would last some 3-4 yrs at least.. not sure the black would last longer than white.

Adco Double-Axle covers

I just got a pair of Adco double-axle covers from eTrailer on sale. They fit snug but cover nicely.
