Storing my 26u

I am preparing to build a storage shed on a gravel RV lot that I have purchased. I am reading on other threads that people like to store on a concrete pad to save the tires. My question is will I damage my tires if it is only stored on gravel?

Some folks have suggested vapor barrier matts of some type to segregate the tires. The tire guys will have the best recommendation.

What you do not want to do is use anything that could tip up and damage the coach underbelly or dump valves. Examples might be bricks, 12x12 pavers, blocks of wood, or chunks of concrete.

My suggestion would be to use the coach often enough to keep the tires regularly moving. Unfortunately, not always possible due to work and family scheduling. However, a truly worthy objective. Pat

Others may disagree, but it's going to depend a lot on how thick your gravel layer is. The biggest issue is not sitting in moisture constantly. That's why sitting on grass and dirt is bad. If you have a thick layer of good gravel with proper drainage I think you'll be doing fine.

If you really want to put something down, cut some wide strips of plywood long enough to span both tires with plenty of extra space. The longer it is will keep it from tipping up and biting the camper.

I have used pressure treated 2 X 8 lumber that is long enough to span both tires. If you bevel the ends (45 degrees) they will be less likely to tip up when backing onto them.

joshjack is right, put down enough gravel and have it drain well. Limestone or crushed concrete would be my choice.

Thank you for this advice. I will make up some bevelled 2 x 8 boards.

I would get some concrete paving stones from Lowes or Home Depot.

Build a bevel at front edge with extra gravel piled up all the way around them so they are essentially level with the gravel. That way they wont try and walk on you when backing over them.

This will give you a dry level area for your tires.
