Storage - Indoor/Outdoor

We plan to leave our Safari in Minnesota for the next 12 months. We can pay to store it in a barn all that time, or leave it outside beside our garage [unattended] for the entire time. I would appreciate any comments from those experienced in storing an Airstream outdoors for extended time in the frozen North.

Deal with any leaks, winterize it carefully, and eliminate anything a mouse might like to eat or nest in. Then, be prepared to do some cleaning when you get back, because mice happen.

You might check some other threads for mouse-proofing tips, although I don't know that anything works reliably ...

If given the option and cost not being an issue, inside every day of the week and 2x on Sunday.

Ours is kept outside and frankly, I'd prefer to have it inside over the winter. Less ice, snow, posslbe tree branches falling off and bumping into it, etc......

Basically less exposure to the elements is a good thing in my book.

I'd personally opt for the indoor storage, easier clean-up when bringing it out of hibernation and safe from whatever Mother Nature might dish out. As far as mouse proofing goes, I've been throwing Bounce dryer sheets in every nook and cranny while storing. Heard that rodents didn't like the smell and so far so good, no mice (which with saying that I probably just jinxed myself ) Plus don't get the musty smell that you sometimes do from the unit being closed up. Also we leave nothing in the trailer (no clothes, food, soap etc.).

I'd second the motion for inside storage. It keeps it out of the elements and possibly will prevent any small leaks from forming, (example - freezing, thawing and refreezing around the roof area may cause a small leak to develop)
