Mice

Mice....we live in the country...mice are a problem...worked several of the suggestions...dyer sheets(absolutely no help)...the best method that has worked for us is to soak a cotton ball with peppermint oil and place on top of some aluminum foil...place 5 or 6 of these under the compartments..sinks, closet, beds and a couple outside around the wheels...mice hate the smell...but, it smells good to humans...reload every month...also place the sticky traps about 4 in likely areas to find mice...its worked for us...you can't keep them out...so to repel them is the only trick. Since we started using the peppermint oil ...we have not seen or heard of a mouse since...going on 6 months now

I use snap traps with peanut butter wrapped up in a little square of cheesecloth, which both helps it to hold to the trap and get stuck in their teeth.

We just bought our airstream and are discovering mice droppings. We bought the airstream from a man that lives on a farm so it wasn't surprising. We actually had mice in our house last fall due to bad weather stripping on garage doors. After an expensive meeting with an exterminator he told us the only thing we could do was trap them and kill them one by one and then do our best to seal the house.
We killed all the mice in the house and then sealed up the house and put Fresh Cab bags at the garage entry and the door that leads into the house from the garage. We also got a cat (mice are my kryptonite and I will do anything to avoid them) and we have not seen a mouse or proof of a mouse again.
We plan to do the same in the airstream. Set traps with peanut butter to kill any mice that may be in there and then fill the airstream with Fresh Cabs when we are not in it. Also we will let the cat loose in the airstream every couple weeks so she can get her natural scent in the trailer to scare away mice.

In the hangar, I have found that mothballs scattered under my plane keeps mice away. Doesn't work outdoors very well, tho.

In my pole barn where I have cars, tractors, snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc. I found that the mothballs work pretty well. Then my uncle, who has a pest control company, put poison in the little plastic boxes that only mice can get into, around the walls and entrances of the barn. I have not had any mouse damage since he started doing that 4 years ago.

I just had an 18' X 10' garage door installed so I can park the AS in there, so I hope I can continue to keep meesus at bay.

The last trap that we set and "collected" was 2" from a fresh "Bounce" drier sheet ... so much for that deterrent! I will let you know how the next two traps fair ...still in the same place in the pump compartment with the same new Bounce sheet adjoining the two traps.

Cooler fall weather and they are looking for an indoor home again, especially one with a food supply.

Working in an RV dealership and having grown up on a farm, the one thing I always tell customers if they ask about mice is peppermint. Take a little peppermint oil, put it on some cottonballs and tuck them by any potential entry points. Continually check it once a month and if you don't notice the smell when you enter reapply the oil to a few more cottonballs. You can go overload on them and your trailer will smell nice and fresh, especially for the holiday time!

We travelled across country without issue (no mice) and one day brought nectarines into our trailer. The next day we saw mouse droppings then subsequently caught eight of the little critters in two days. We moved the RV to another campground and and searched under the Airstream for small holes the next few days. I found four. Two in each wheel well. The holes were where the well matted the bottom black trim along the outside of the trailer. The mice climbed up the tires and reached over into the holes and into the trailer. We patched all four holes and have not had mice since.... knock on wood. Found this same issue, small holes at base of wheel wells matting to the outside black trim, on several recently built Airstreams - 2018 27 Serenity, 2015 25 Flying Cloud, 2017 22 Sport. Not all that I looked at had this problem, but about half did.

We didn't know we had a mouse, but Corey knew! When he stays awake all night "hunting" we put out the snap trap baited with jerky. Dead mouse in 10 minutes. Camp with your Cat!

Be sure to check your traps regularly!
... in even moderately cool temperatures, the smell of the decomposing tissue and urine will impact the "clean air" of the immediate area. We had a mouse that drug a trap to where we overlooked it. After just three days the smell was overpowering - there was snow on the ground, but the solar warming through the glass must have raised the interior temperature...just enough.
Even after thorough cleaning - down to metal / wood- there is still a hint of "mouse".

We get many mice in the house.

This is the best mouse killer.

Then , other animals can eat them as there no bad chemical in them

(Temporary hijack - sorry)

I’m not a cat person but man that is one gorgeous mouse trap! Absolutely love the multi-colors and the half and half face (with contrasting ears to boot!). Gorgeous!

The video is impressive...how many mice has your personal automatic trap "accounted for" ? Does the co2 level leak down even if the trap is not actuated?

We now have a manx on storage duty with our Eddie ...finally the AS is inside his barn with a nicely epoxied cement floor underneath...easy to spot the mice when the cat is done entertaining them!
