I used spray insulation foam to seal up their paths through the frame, eg, in those areas where the floor is open (like under the sink) down to the frame.
These are the kind of mice I like...

I use stainless steel hanks used for scouring pots stuffed in the 'A' frame is effective and permanent. Doesn't rust either.

I used to have trouble with mice getting in the trailer here, but after installing a couple of the silent to us plug in sonic things from Tractor Supply, I've not had a problem with them.
When I did have them, I found a piece of pecan shoved into the trap as bait worked the best.

Mice
Steel wool works very well for plugging all the little holes, non or low expansion spray foam works but if you ever have to do work in that area you will curse it for sure. Bounce sheets distributed throughout the trailer work well and don't smell as bad as moth balls which also will keep them away, but the best thing is to make sure that there are no food supplies anywhere near or in the trailer.

The Bounce sheets didn't work on our variety of mice. Just stunk up the trailer.
The Ultra-Sonic Rodent Repellers did. Of course You have to be able to keep plugged in.
But then, we found out on a trip this year, the little buggers can climb up the shore power cord.

I'm trying out Fresh Cab rodent repellent. I haven't had any mice yet and I keep the AS parked in a temp storage tent on a friends farm. Lots of mice and rabbits around.
Probably the best repellent is to thoroughly clean the camper and remove anything that can be eaten or used by rodents for nest material.

Well, good luck with that. The last time I had a mouse in the trailer it pulled out a bunch of the fiberglass insulation from under the floor to make a nest with.

Please use stainless wool (scrubbers), if contact with aluminum is involved or moisture is an issue.
I used moth balls on the old SOB with great success....but the Missus banned them in the AS due to lingering smell.

hello all:
We had those little rodents and were successful in catching them. After some research we have put the Sonic Rodent Deterent in the coach in two areas. Since installing these gizmos we have not seen any signs of the little gremlins. To date we are very happy with the way the Sonic units work. PS Purchased at HomeDepot.

Pack rats
Here in AZ we have pack rats. They like the electrical wires and go after your most expensive vehicle.
Standard equipment is the sonic devices, "Gopher-Go-Die" in their ground holes and lights under the cars at night.
Other methods include bars of Irish Spring soap placed about inside and mothballs on ground underneath airstream. Then just drive away from the smell!

My method for repelling these critters is to "dissuade" them is to provide mouse bait in both my garage and utility shed--both along side my RV. We live in Central Wisconsin and have lots of critters to contend with. Having no food in vehicles is not a deterant when Winter arrives. Previously I've had mice hole up during the Winter in our garage on/in my Harley side bags--
with no food around. I've had to replenish the bait in outbuildings often, but no evidence of a population in our unit.

PS: My mouse activity--where no food is available (in garage/shed) is when Winter arrives the mice live on fallen bird food from my bird feeders which I found around the engine and inside leather saddlebags of wifes Harley! Apparantly, they can bring their own meals to their "Winter homes"!!
ADVISE: FEED THEM ELSWHERE! (Mouse Bait)

No food, no mice, but they do bring picnic lunches.
Just a reminder, bar soap is made from animal fat so that too will attract them. Some have believed Irish Spring bar soap would keep them away, until they ate it. Clean those shower walls before storage, and plug all the drains.

nice thread...will be prepared for those little nasties when the time comes...I have not had alot of mice problems where I live in Alabama...I am hoping that I dodge that issue...we DO have massive cochroaches however...florida got us beat though I think on those.
At this point my future plans is a poured concrete, water sealed, enclosed carport...climate controlled...and a toxic moat around the perimeter with hydralic controlled draw bridge

I've used the scented dryer sheets with seeming success. Buy a box of them and tuck them in and under and all around everywhere you can get to inside the trailer. Have had no mice or other vermin that I can detect.

I tried the scented dryer sheets and so did a good friend of mine in his 5th wheel, neither one of us had success with them other than making our units smell nice.

That may be true. I may have just been lucky with the mice but can't complain about smelling nice either. I guess you could always have a resident house cat. But then you'd need the dryer sheets also.
