Step away from the antifreeze!!!!

Not so fast with the winterizing!! Some of us Ohio airstreamers are having an informal rally this Oct 20-22 at Alum Creek in Delaware county. Would be a good time for one last outing this year before the winterizing. If possible, put it on your calendar, it'll be a good time! See post "northern ohio" for more details. --dave

Sounds like it might be worth a few extra gallons of anti-freeze - it's on the calendar!

Winterizing completed yesterday as well. It's a reality that is hard to accept but eventually you come to grips with it. It has to be done. Spring is only 6 months away. Countdown begins.

We decided not to winterize, but rather stay south and camp through the winter. We only had to run the heater once or twice last late winter to keep the holding tanks heated. My regrets to ya'll north of the Mason-dixon line.
Happy holidays.

Hi, That's exactly what we want to do as soon as we retire and sell this big [to us] plaster box that we live in now.

Hi, Sorry we can't make it; We have a wedding to attend that weekend. By the way, is that short for Aluminum Creek? [Alum Creek]

I'm just wondering if this is a good practice. Wouldn't you rather have water flowing evenly down a leveled trailer that up against things? For example the air conditioner when leveled gets no water against the mounting points. Same with the vents. If you tip the trailer water will run against those items and in some cases any small weakness can get expanded by freeze/thaw.

I think that level is probably better. Any thoughts from others?

Those are good points - while I was Walbernizing the roof, I noticed that it seems to have a 'crown' similar to a road that causes run-off side-to-side, but nothing front to back. The tilt I've put it at is no more than a few degrees front to back to create a runoff that way to prevent puddling on the awning rails etc.

I'll take a trip to the storage facility during a thaw ans see what it is doing and make adjustments if necessary.

Thanks for the post - it's always good to hear other points of view!

szy8xj, I feel for you folks up there! I used to live in Chardon, moved down to Florida almost 3 years ago. No regrets. Spent too much of my life being COLD. 90 and sweat feels good. No skeeters in our neck of the woods, just little gnats that like to buzz your ears.
