Experiences with canopies????

I am considering the purchase of a canopy for summer cover of my unit which i park under trees and would like to protect from sap, bird drippings, etc. as well as the sun.

I would be erecting it in spring and removing it in August.

Sure would like insignts from the "clan"...

Depending on how much you're willing to pay, Cabelas has some nice industrial canopies made just for this purpose and, they appear reasonably priced compared to what a structure of this size would cost.

Funny to see your post today...after a freak snow and ice storm here we returned home to find my canopy listing badly to one side and heavily weighed down with slush. I bought this double vinyl 20+ footer last summer at a ridiculous close out price, and raised it above my MH with plastic pipe extensions, and concrete filled anchor/buckets. It has held up wonderfully thru heavy winds and blasting rains.
Today was the first problem I have had, and with a 15 minutes spent clearing the snow off it, it was restored to its previous upright protective position.
I can tell you that my Airstream roof and awning and such have been kept clean from debris all winter, and a washing should bring it back to its summertime shine quickly. A good investment no doubt.

Are you using a king canopy? do you know what they maen by ground anchors (available locally)?

I like the four foot wind screen idea.

yes i have one and like it very much.

i use it for extra shade when out west. as for the anchors, i think they mean mobilehome anchors. they screw into the ground and have an eye on top.

i have seen them at farm and fleet stores here in wisconsin. i purchased the canopy at sam's.

25 years of beach camping have reenforced my love of canopies for sun shelter. I have also seen sustained high winds cause some big problems in campgrounds with flapping and flying canopy poles that have freed themselves. The best solution I have found is a guyline from the canopy center top straight down and well secured - I use a two foot auger stake into the sand with good results. Of course, we can't use a center tiedown here. Double guylines on each corner positioned at ninety degree angles to the canopy are a good idea for safety. However, securely staking down the middle of each side of the canopy is what will help most for long time usage. The reason is that wind will push upward and will tend to have the greatest impact at the middle of the sides. Reinforcement here will be valuable. Hope this helps someone avoid pummeling their pride and joy with a wayward canopy pole.

By the way my 10 x 20 looks just like the one on the Cabela's site. Doubled vinyl with metal poles, which I inserted into the
plastic pipe extensions, and bolted thru both. The plastic pipe sits in a bucket of cement.

I saw many of these also on Ebay for 100 or less. Got mine at a discount department store, where it was 20 dollars at season end. Luckily I happened to be there when they closed them out.
