Do you take your flatscreen tv out in winter??

Will the cold hurt my flatscreen tv? Should I take it out of my Airstream for winter? Thanx all.

Yes & yes
There really isn't any L in the LCD, but extreme cold for an extended period can damage the panel.
Why take the chance?

I've taken mine out and left it in over the last couple of season. Seems to survive the 0F degrees cold we had last winter. However, its probably best to remove it.

Should be fine. If in doubt the TV manufacturer usually list operational and storage temperatures in the specs in the manual.

Nope. I've found the more stuff I leave in it the easier it is to pull chocks in January and head to Florida! Everything you remove you gotta reinstall....and I can't imagine you could do much damage to a flat screen from cold weather. They surely ship them in the winter in unheated trucks.

My logic for leaving it in is that I don't have a good safe place to store it in the house. Also the odds of it getting broken in transit are higher. I will check my owners manual about storage temperatures but at this point I am leaving it in the AS. Unless someone makes a convincing argument otherwise.

If you leave it in, the best thing to do is make sure it has fully warmed up before you turn it on. The frost can cause condensation that could short out if not fully dried out first.

Mine stay in the trailer year round. So far, no problem in the last 10 years.

What Shacksman said.

The directions with my Panasonic said not to OPERATE it below 45 degrees or so. Said nothing at all about storing it cold. They haul them in cold truck trailers all the time, store them in warehouses that aren't always hot, etc.

Had mine out for two very cold winters and it's been fine. I just warm the trailer up and let it heat soak for a half hour or so before turning the TV on.

Best of luck,

I think if you head down to any of your local RV dealers tomorrow you will find that every trailer with a TV installed at the factory will remain in the unit over winter.

LED tvs can be stored and operated at sub zero temps. That's like the display panel in a lot of cars...

I've left my old LCD, pre-digital, in the AS for 2 winters, no problem
My neighbor has a 45" LCD mounted over the back door of his house, under an open air roof, been there for 2 winters now, it seems to be fine.

Not cold related. Mine are removed, along with anything else of value for theft reduction.
I put a little sign in the window, "all electronics and valuables removed for storage".

I also have a nest cam installed as well as a Nest provided notification sign in the window.
