dallas storage
We are the lucky owners of two airstreams, our old 32 foot baby up here in anchorage, alaska, where we live, and our new 31 foot classic, which is currently in storage in washington. We are going to be picking up the washington airstream this month and traveling across the country to the east coast. From Georgia we want to drive to Dallas and store our truck and trailer there, and fly back to Anchorage, (there are convenient non-stop flights to Alaska from Dallas) and return for another trip probably in March.
Does anyone have any thoughts on storage in the Dallas area? Is covered storage necessary? We have have not had much luck finding anyone with space for Jan-March 2008 so far. Any advice would be appreciated!

I wouldn't consider keeping my 07 Safari in uncovered storage because of the possibility of hail. You are probably pretty safe Jan-March but you never know about March. Be sure to winterize. I rent a covered spot in a commerical facility about 30 miles north of Dallas for about $100 per month. I don't know if they have a vacancy but I'll find their phone number for you if you like. It is located on Highway 289 between Celina and Prosper, TX.

dallas storage
thanks dubyadee...if you could get the name or phone number of the place you use we'd appreciate it. We had not thought of hail..up here we only get the soft stuff called snow. Winterize for Dallas? Do you get a hard freeze or just a few dips below 32? I would drain and blow all lines but would not see the need for anitfreeze unless it gets really cold.

I live a 120 miles south of Dallas and, yes, you need to winterize. We won't have extended periods of freezing temperatures, but it will get cold enough long enough to freeze the traps under the sinks and shower. Usually around the second week in January, for instance, it will get down to 15-20 degrees for a day or so. A frozen shower trap is a costly item. Winterize!

I put antifreeze in the traps and water pump today. (Blew the lines first.) Most of the people I know with RVs in this area do the same. We will usually get a few days in a row that don't get above 32 and several lows in the 20's especially in January. My trailer is at Preston Road Covered Boat and RV Storage. Phone 972.347.9920. If they are full ask if they know of an opening in another location. I believe the owner has more than one facility.

dallas storage needed for 19' ccd.
Hi All!
I just moved to the Dallas area and right now, I'm living in my 19 bambi until i find an apartment in the Uptown area. I plan to take to the road on as many weekends as possible, so I'd like to find a storage facility near my new home or my new office in Irving.
Does anyone have a line on a (covered) storage facility near Downtown Dallas or in Irving near 114 and O'Connor?
Thanks,
Javier

Try AllStorage on Wall Price Rd. In Keller. 817-379-0540. It's just off 377 North of 820 about 4 miles. Most are covered then there is another AllStorage north of that yet and have cover and non covered also.

Having just moved away from Dallas after 50 years I'd like to recommend one RV park to you that also has outdoor storage and is easily accessible from many points:
Sandy Lake RV Park
Off of Sandy Lake Road and I-35 (plus the Bush Turnpike). We used it quite a bit last year since selling a house in Lakewood and find that using the Bush to the Dallas North Tollroad was an easy way into town for any purpose. Plus, one could easily go to Ft. Worth or all other points in between.
