Since I don't have indoor winter storage for our 65 Caravel, thinking about having a custom made cover from Coverdirct. The material is Sunbrella and carries a 5 year warranty, and was wondering covering a Airstrean in the winter would be a bad thing...........thanks in advance
As it blows around it will create rub marks on the skin. I've seen airstreams that have been covered and they get these big black marks on them, it's pretty ugly. Then you have to polish them off, because essentially that's what the cover is doing, polishing it, but it only gets to the point of creating the black residue. I wouldn't do it.
Mine sits under a vinyl carport to keep it dry and out of the weather. Might not be an option for you in Michigan though.

I polish my airstream all the time anyway, would you no of any other reason not to cover.
wont that cause MOLD & MILDEW to grow inside the trailer?
without some kind of outside lightcoming in, you may get a yucky surprise.
Forgot to mention, this is what the manufacture is saying "Our covers are highly water repellant, shedding water easily while maintaining breathability. This is an extremely important consideration in the selection of a cover because a waterproof cover can actually harm your RV. Waterproof covers can trap moisture from condensation allowing damaging mold and mildew to form. Our state-of-the-art finish repels water while allowing your coach to breathe."
Plus I have a dehumidifier, there is a door plus the windows can still be cracked..........
