FYI....
Here is a reply to an email I sent.......
There is no guarantee that it will not scratch or leak. The fabrics are NOT waterproof. They should repel most of the water but they are not waterproof.
The fabric has a reasonably soft touch against the vehicle but if dirt is trapped between the Airstream and the cover and the cover moves around due to high winds it is possible that some scratching might occur but it is unlikely.

Subject: Airstream cover
Is there a guarantee that one of your custom outdoor covers won't leak or scratch/damage the clearcoat on my Airstream? What is your recomendation?

I am interested in building a permanent camp structure on land I own in the mountains, and wondered if there was a location where pictures of shelters forum members have built are posted. I want a shelter that is fairly open so that we can fully use the airstream during good weather, and is pleasing to the eye. Any pictures would be very helpful in planning this shelter.

A tarp would cause damage.

What kind of material is your cover made from and since some time has gone by, do you still stand by your statement above about covers?

We just had a 33X13 pad poured for our AS next to our driveway. We are using a pergola design plan that is quite attractive and will finish it by landscaping around the pad. We are using agricultural metal roofing material on top of it. There are trellis type screens on the side next to our neighbor's house (curb side of AS toward our driveway). This style might work with some cities building ordinances and neighborhood covenants.

How bad is un-covered?
I will be able to store my 23' Airstream (once purchased) in the back of my driveway, but probably cannot use a "canopy" due to neighborhood restrictions. How bad is it to leave it uncovered? There are no trees, etc. overhead. My primary concern is sunlight.

I would like to re-visit this topic; our garage was destroyed in a storm and the AS will spend this winter outside.
I have had good experience with ADCO covers for other RV’s we have owned, including our current TC.
These covers are water proof (top panel) and breathable (side panels). They have kept our other RV’s clean and protected.
I would like to hear from anyone who has actually used an ADCO or Covercraft on their AS.
I do not want to discuss the merits of covering/not covering, inside/outside, plastic tarps, etc, etc.
I would like to hear only from those that have actually used either of these covers.
craftsman...you still around? Any data to share?
Tx, B

not to hijack the thread.........but
I have a 2006 Bambi that has spent the last couple years stored in the Florida sun. I'm debating the following choices....
1-continue storing her outside in the elements for free.
2-Sharing an indoor storage facility with a friend, 4 miles from my house. My share of the cost would be $100/month.
3-Try a covercraft cover. Cost ~$1,000
Any thoughts?

nsb,
This topic has been well covered in this and other threads...the consensus being, no-one has found a cover that will not damage an AS stored outside.
POI.. in reading the specs for the adco & covercraft both mention that they are highly moisture & UV "resistant". Nothing about flapping in the wind, flap'n not good for our shiny toyz.
$1200/year for indoor protection, it's up to you if that's worth it, for me stuck up North here it just might be. If i had the room I would put up a pole barn to keep a lot of the snow and direct sun off. It sits now fully exposed 24/7/365 with no serious, awful, bad, ill effects.

That's just it...lots of chatter about not using a (quality) cover...but no real experience...that I can find.
As mentioned, I have covered many other RV's with ADCO's and all have been fine.
I am tempted to cover the AS this winter...but would love to hear from someone that has real experience...

If I interperet that post correctly, he was referring to a plastic tarp.
I am more ineterested in quality, breathable covers...made for this purpose.
As mentioned; I have, and still do, use them on other RV's. They hold up well, and have not caused any damage.
I have been reluctant to try one on the AS due to all the rumors here.
I would love to hear from anyone that has used a quality, breathable cover (not plastic tarp) on an AS.

Bill,
I remember a post craftsman made saying he had ordered one, CvrCft I think, have you tried to PM him. Would be good to get an up-date.
I did try a custom cover(evo4 from Ca. cover) on a car I stored outdoors one Winter, ended up frozen to the car...my bad.

Hey Bob, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the ADCO (the annual sale is now)...craftsman does not have PM enabled, can't find an email either. Doesn't show any activity on his account in like a year or so...do you have contact info?
Tx, Bill

Bill,
If you pull the trigger on the cover please keep us posted.
I think I had his email address on my PC...crashed last year, so it's lost out in space somewhere.
Miss his posts...he was a "craftsman"!

Our Airstream under cover
I did post a photo last year. Now if I can repost photo? Will try. We purchased a cover from Harbor Freight for $182.00 and have used it for several years.
The poles bent...from the heavy Snow Load. We able to purchase new poles. Very inexpensive. This works for us. Regards, Aria

I'd love to fabricate one of those made with 1.5" pvc and couragated fiberglass that just screws together for summer take down. Well, where I keep the AS it isn't allowed to date.
