Cover or not to Cover?

I see alot of SOB's that are covered with an rv cover, however when I see an AS in storage they are not covered. Is there a reason for this, and do you cover your AS? If not, why?

From what I understand covers has the potential to scratch your aluminum. However, I am not speaking from experience, just from what I have read in the forums.

If you put a cover directly on the aluminum you run the risk of scratching and black marks. Only cover your Airstream with a portable garage etc...in a barn...anything that will not actually touch the skin

Don't cover with a cover - the aluminum will be be scratched. I know for a fact.

We had purchased a custom cover for our 2005 International- however- we never used it! If its inside and there is no wind to the blow the cover around the skin it might be okay- but certainly do not cover it outside where the wind will cause the cover to leave black "tarnish" marks on the skin.

I always cover mine. water seeps in and freezes it will open the smallest whole up

With this type of investment, the best option would be a metal, aluminum, or steel carport. These are available for much more reasonable pricing than you may think. It really is important to protect your investment!
