Clamark cover on as 22FB -winter storage

water blown out ,
power disconnected
propane removed.
cover installed

we ordered a custom CALMARK cover

they take dozens of measurements to ensure it has space for solar, and any other accessory on the side or roof.

it even has a zipped door so that you can enter in the winter if needed
it is made of the same fabric as the zip-dee awnings. it is water proof but breathes

fits very well, they even include straps and draw string

once the conditions settle down we will pull it tight again

Be ready to see scratches and rub marks everywhere the cover touches the body. They are very hard to remove if you can do it at all. AS doesn't suggest covering your AS.You cannot get it tight enough to avoid friction between the cover and the skin. It will flap all around the zippered section around the door. But do let us know how it works out for you.

We covered our first AS...lesson learned. Never again.

Especially after it freezes to the panels and blows free again.

What exactly were you hoping to 'protect' it from?

Our Classic has survived 14 WNY Winters with no ill effects. 👍

My advise...remove the wheels, raise the stab's and put it on jack stands.
The tires WILL suffer damage during the Northern Winter especially with full weight on them and not being exercised. Regular use does help tire life.
At a minimum raise on stands, reduce pressure and cover.

the cover protects the roof from ice and leaves and sun . it makes it easier to keep the roof in good condition . it is the same materiel as he the zip-dee, the firm has 1000's of users. not one has reported the issue you are finding. it is NOT blue tarp material, it is soft to touch

the tie chords below keeps it tight and held under the As bottom edge. they are built in their own sleeve. they have dozens of grommets for addition hold down if needed. as well there are two straps that go from roof to belly holding it down.

i tried to move it around, it does not budge

Tires on the other hand have been damaged during Winter hibernation. 👎

I understand that AS doesn't recommend that you cover your trailer. However, I have a cover on my VW bug that is made from Technalon III material that was manufactured by Kimberly Clark. The VW sits outside and it's been covered continuously for 10 years when it's not being driven with no ill effects. Has anyone ever found a company that uses this material for trailer covers. This material is very soft and when dry is very light.

Covers for any outdoor use need to be softly padded, tight, and kept absolutely clean. Other wise, the loose dirty cover will act like sand paper in the wind. My experience with airplanes bears that out. On my Airstream I wax it with Walbernize twice a year and use no cover. It still looks new.

I have also used a cover for protection...but auto paint and/or clearcoat...even 65yr old paint, is not the Alcoa treated panel that AS uses, it's the brushed grain surface that gets damaged.

We have had our Calmark cover since May with no issues to date. Just applied 2nd Wallbernize treatment since buying AS in March. Granted, I don't have snow and ice to deal with, but happy with the product.

I covered my 23' FC FB for a couple years before I uncovered it and was horrified by the rub marks that I have not been able to get rid of. I would never do it again. I hope you don't have that same problem.

I'd be afraid that the cover, on windy days, would wear the finish on 'hard spots', places where there's a ridge, like your front window frames.

Even calmark advises...do not remove when wet, the cover is not waterproof. If it gets soaked it is impossible to keep all dirt from penetrating.
Plus, if it freezes while wet the outcome may not be good.
Dirt under the cover on a windy day may also be a concern.

I cover all roof plastic and let the aluminum fend for itself.

Has anyone found a cover source for a AS ROOF ONLY. I store a 25ft Flying Cloud outdoors, unfortunately with a pine tree close by, I am dealing with SAP droppings. I am looking for alternate storage location, but also looking for any input from fellow ASer's who may have experienced a similar situation. Thanks in advance

What tire damage could be expected? What to look for in the spring?
I just bought a FC25 and am storing it outside this year in the Ottawa (Canada) area (read very cold in Jan/Feb).

Any advice would be appreciated.
