No. It was stored on US290, just east of Dripping Springs. Normally a fairly crime-free area.

John - I've now heard about two other THLU members having their trailers damaged there too. One moved their Airstream to another facility this morning and the other one can't come to the camp-out this weekend because his 2013 Airstream is at Camper Clinic II being repaired.

Were you pleased with your visit with the adjuster today?

The adjuster and I had a glitch in commumication as to what day he/she was coming. I have to go back tomorrow morning to meet him/her sometime between 8 and 10.

The yard is putting in 24-hour security, motion detectors, more cameras, etc. I feel as safe there as anywhere..

I feel for you - as... "there but for the grace of God..." go anyone of us who uses a storage yard. I'll be curious how USAA does for you - that's who I have for my rig, too. Best to you...

I have been with USAA for about 60 years abd they have never disappointed me. I meet with the appraiser this morning at the trailer. Sad thing is that I have $500 deductible on the damage and $500 deductible on the theft. Good thing is that I can fix some things myself like installing the new door lock, hanging the new blind, and fixing the screen and save the labor that will be on the estimate from the dealer.

I'm just amazed at a storage facility that is actually taking steps to improve. I guess, from their point of view, break-ins are bad for business, so it makes sense, but still - I'm pretty sure around here you'd get, "Tough luck," and that would be all they'd do.

Very depressing. Be aware that if your trailer is broken into while it's being serviced at your dealer's in all likelihood YOUR insurance will have to cover the damage. Most dealers are pretty clear that if it's parked on their property it's at your own risk.

Quick Insurance Settlement

Hooray for USAA. I had a call this evening that USAA was direct depositing my settlement of nearly $1300 after deductable. Since my TV was permanently mounted, they included that as part of the vehicle damage.

I just emailed them a spreadsheet of the theft items with a URL pointing to each item where possible. They will handle theft either under the auto policy or under my homeowner's policy depending on which gves me the best return. I really like that they aren't dollar and dimeing me.

After over 60 years, I'm still happy with USAA.

Glad that your insurance coverage worked out well.

I don't have separate insurance on my Airstream. I know that my auto liability covers it when towing, but I was not aware that there would be coverage on it from a loss due to an accident or theft, either from my auto policy or homeowners policy.

That is great news if it is true.

Dan

I am so sorry for the damage done! We store our trailer on property we own 30 miles from here. (Barns here are full). We also let some friends store their trailers in the same shed. A few years ago we pulled our trailer out in early spring. The two others stayed. When they went to get their trailers one had been broken into. A small TV was taken, but not the remote, and the perps used towels to dry off with after they had been swimming in our pond. Since then we had the shed moved back further away from the road and put heavier door locks and metal bars on all the windows.
