Question Black tank mystery...

Went out today to check that the toilet still had antifreeze in the bowl.

I found what looked like mold all around the rim. After cleaning the whole throne with bleach and rinsing with several buckets of water I went to drain the black tank....nothing. Took the slinky off, open & close several times and woooosh this came out.....slime.
No evidence of waste, t-paper or any other foreign to the tank substance. No bad odor which is really unusual.

I'm thinking it may be a reaction of the pink AF combined with the blue aqua chem.

Anyone else see anything like this?

Bob

Kryptonite?

I have a Sewer Solution and brag that I don't really need to use rubber gloves - but pilgrim - before you touched that stuff you should have put them on!

Do you still have fingerprints?

Has the driveway melted?

Has the "green slime" been followed by clear water - LOTS of clear water?

Do you have a city hookup to move this stuff FAR FAR away?

Test for radioactivity?

Dear Mr. Wizard...

...What will I get if I combine a pink glycol based product with a blue formaldehyde based product?
Answer: Ask Robert Cross. He'll try anything in the name of science.

Ewwwwww!! Yuck!

I could name a few things that mess looks like..........can't believe you touched it with your bare hands.

It looks non-organic, which may be a good thing,

Maggie

Your worried about it freezing Bob?

Put some in the ice cube tray and see what happens.

If it does not freeze, then it is doing the job, right?

Looks like a jellyfish after it has been cooked in a microwave?

Do you make it a habit of flushing left over jellyfish?

Hi, as automotive mechanics, we touched all kinds of things with our bare hands. Today's mechanics wear latex gloves and use water based chemicals.

Immediately flush the tank until you see no more antifreeze or green slime, and start over (if you haven't already). I've heard of instances of gelled antifreeze before, usually the result of mixing two different types of antifreeze in a car's radiator. Without exception, of the cases I've heard of, the gelled antifreeze has been highly corrosive. While your waste tank isn't a car radiator, and has a lot fewer metal parts, it will do no good to any metal parts that are present.

Your theory about mixing antifreeze with aqua-chem is probably right on the money.

I'm sure Bob remembers the early days of Propylene Glycol and the car radiators. Hasn't been an issue for many years, but was quite the mystery in the first and second year of use.
