Black tank 100% full...

Just dewinterizing for our upcoming trip (Yeah I know, dewinterizing in July...this thing called "Life" keeps getting in the way...) and was very shocked when I raised the toilet lid only to find it was about to overflow.

The only way to get the black tank filled is via the toilet correct?

We have yet to take her out on her maiden voyage since she was delivered/parked/winterized. Today, I connected the water hose to water inlet valve for say 8-10 minutes as a means to fill the main water tank simply to then turn on the pump and flush out all the pink antifreeze.

How does one get that much water into the black tank without ever so much as using the potty even one time?

Hi - just to clarify - are you saying the bowl was full or are you saying you opened the flapper and could see that the tank was full because water was coming up in to the bowl from the pipe below the floor?

If it's just the bowl that's full, I learned that when you flush the toilet and release the pedal to close the flapper, water will continue to flow in to the bowl (how much I'm not sure). So it's possible after its final flush post-winterizing and the addition of Rv antifreeze in the bowl, you were already close to full in the bowl but the tank could be empty.

Opened the lid to see the pink antifreeze colored water about to spill over...
Pressed the flush to empty the bowl and it opened only to do nothing but show me that the flap opened and the water level in the bowl remained the same...about to overflow.

I went to the panel and checked "Black" and saw that it read 100%.
I then went outside and opened the drain to empty the black.
I then went back inside and to the panel to check Black again...now read 0.
Back to the toilet and pressed the floor flush and it went right down no issues.

More seriously, do you mean the bowl was full, or the black tank and bowl were full? I suppose a combination of a internal toilet valve leak and the water pump left on could do it. Or maybe a little frost in the valve opened it up. Often all the water does not drain out of the fresh water tank when winterizing, or maybe it wasn't drained at all.

Any chance that hose was connected to the tank flush port? It's typically right above the fresh water fill inlet, and it will fill the black water tank.

That was it indeed - For the record, our Classic 2015 was one of the first few made and it does not have the sticker showing "CAUTION - SEWER FLUSHER" right above the inlet so I simply read the engraved writing directly on the valve itself which reads "Water Inlet Only" and naturally assumed that this was the inlet for filling the main water tank.

See attached photo of the warning sticker...that doesn't exist!

I have never hooked fresh water up to the sewer flush but have started to more than once. It's an easy mistake, no design element to prevent it.

I'm thinking of putting a quick disconnect fitting on the fresh water supply connection (leave it there) and on our fresh water hose so it will not fit the sewer flush. Then no accidental misconnection can happen.

Good thing you stopped the water when you did or you would've flooded the trailer.

When I flush the black water tank and fill the water tank I turn on the monitor panel and set it to monitor the one tank and pull up my day/night shades so I can see the monitor panel from an outside window while I fill the tanks. I also use an inline water meter to see how many gallons are going into the tank.

Glad it was an easy solution.

Like others, I give an Amen to that.

Also be aware that water from the sink in the bathroom goes to the black tank as well. This has gotten some of my travel mates in trouble because they thought it was connected to gray water and they overdid it bit.

First time out we did the same thing. Except we removed all of the ugly warning stickers.
Could have been worse. Wife heard a gurgling sound comming from the from the commode. So she pressed the pedal to have a look see. Well all the seals were tight the tank was all mostly full and had pressurized and she got a shower. I thought it was kinda of funny. Wife not so much. Needless to say we have not made that mistake again. Still ROLMAO

The other hose connection, the one you thought you wanted, is for city water. It does not fill the fresh water tank. That is done without a hose physically connected, via a small, square plastic door labeled "Warning potable water....."

Gives a whole new meaning to "Gettin' Shi7 faced" I say that happen to a guy @ the campground, his tank was full and needed flushing, in other words , it wasn't clean water. His mother had to clean the bathroom from floor to ceiling, door and walls. It was too funny and not one of us had a camera !

On a few models.....my bath water goes to gray tank.

Oh wow! How do we know if that's the case or not with our particular model?

At home, with empty tanks, turn on the bath sink and let run. See which gauge rises.

I kinda wish my bath sink did go to black tank. I and DW can go about 5 days on gray tank and 2 weeks, at least on black. If bath sink went to black, it would help even things out a bit.
