Best storage building for Airstream?

We're getting ready to construct a carport-type storage building for our 27-foot Flying Cloud. We've been looking at the VersaTube site and we like the looks of their product. Has anyone had experience with their products? Any other companies you'd recommend? Thanks in advance for any info.

Versatube is a decent product, and it should serve your purpose.

The key to any pre-engineered metal building, though, is the foundation. And that's not something you get shipped to you in a box. Even the best metal building isn't much good if it doesn't have the right foundation under it. So you'll still need some local expertise to design a foundation that is suitable for the site you're building on.

And if you have to seek out a local contractor for the foundation, ask that contractor which metal building supplier he uses, and look at some of the buildings he's built. Being able to get building and foundation from the same local source will be better than buying a building-in-a-box and then working with a contractor who isn't familiar with that building system.

For a Huntington Beach CA carport style addition, concrete piers for the vertical structural members may be the preferred solution, with correct seismic specs IMO. Good advice that the local metal building supplier may have the best foundation team.

Welcome to the forum Don, sorry, no experience with that mfg. or similar.

Good luck,

Peter

PS -- The new search function in the blue bordered box above works great, so you might want to search for carport, garage or storage shed etc.. The Google-powered search engine looks only within this site, and you can tailor the search terms in the new frame that opens up.

PS2 -- A recent thread by Utah Man shows a good example of a metal building but probably larger than you want:
