AS Shelter

Do not want the expense of building another garage, but want protection for my soon to be here AS.

I see the metal ones advertised, and I see folks use covers. Some say the metal ( about roof only - no sidewalks) can be self constructed.

Or, a narrow pole barn type might work.

What do others here use and find satisfactory?

My attempts at a search provided nothing, so sorry if asking something which has already been addressed.

I've been looking for something similar and came across this company: https://www.creativeshelters.com

I need 2 so this may be the way to go for me.

I used this type of framing on my 46' sailboat some years ago. Covered with shrink wrap for winter storage. Worked well.

I got a 31x18 aluminum shed installed and set up for much less than anything I could have built. The cost for the company to install it was a real bargain. Very happy with my choice. Should have done it when I got the trailer. There are a lot of companies doing the carport sheds. Some are better than others in the quality department. Also, lots of options so the price can vary widely depending on what you want. After looking at several brands, I got mine from a company called Carolina Carports.

I built a wooden cover because it was cheap. I spent about $300 on the cement and rock floor. I'm lucky to have access to a sawmill and logs, otherwise I would probably gone for a metal one.

This is what I use. The one I bought takes winds up to 90mph, the hail bounces off of it and it's anchored well to the cement pad. It's high enough inside that I can get on top of the Airstream.

I also got a Carolina Carports and am very happy with it. If I had it to do over, I would get a 14' wide. With the 12' it's hard to get a ladder on both sides. The city required that it be wind rated to 120mph.

Hey Matt,

Would love to see pics of what you built. Also, where in Gold Country? I was born in Grass Valley and grew up in Nevada City.
