There arent too many neighbors in this tiny community on the north shore of Erie but a couple of them coached from the sidelines and many more rubber-necked as they drove by. There were no accidents, neither on the road or the job site.
Many around here have boats or trailers in their own yards.
The cost was $1000.00 for materials and labour. Thats about $900.00 USD. It took 2 men plus me 16 hours.
The structure isnt tied down but it is tied to the adjacent big tree. The enclosure is diagonally braced at the corners and as solid as a brick S. H. We dont think anything less than gale force winds will disturb it.
I dont think you want to build a permanent structure with a clear poly cover but it is ideal for this TEMPORARY use.
The Argosy will be painted, two tone, to match the Mini Cooper, which is going to ride on the frame of the Mercedes SPRINTER seen in the background.

We completed the work shelter with a tarp roof and a hinged door.
This Canadian Argosy has not seen the snow in 30 years and I didnt want that to start now.

Tim, being Canadian is something like being door gunner; it toughens you up.

Smokeless- didn't mean anything nasty, I've had the pleasure of using a brick S.H. while living in N.H. 4 decades ago! Now thats tough in the middle of winter. So anyway I'm lookin for a 24 Argosy project, Send me a few sprouts and I'll send you my left over beer and gin!! Tim

Hardy Airstream
OK, Tim. We'll see what comes up in the spring. Remember that this will be a hardy Northern version of the ARGOSY.

We had 50 cm of snow along the North Shore of Lake Erie last night, enough to close the University of Western Ontario and all the other schools in nearby London, Ontario, today.
It took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to get the snow off the roof of my little trailer work shed. That included the driveway.
Not too bad for an old man.
The shed is cozy and warm, especially on a winters day.

We got snow here too. Your trailer looks warm and cozy. Ours is out covered with snow. Are you planning to have this as a permanent home?
Or do you have future plans? We are still deciding...what to do???

Aria:
This is just a temporary shelter, to be taken down in the spring when the renovation is, I hope, complete and the Argosy is ready to be painted.
The shed is snug and warm with plenty of extra room and lots of light.

just curious, but if you let a little heater running during snowstorms do you think it might keep the snow from building up on the roof? might save ya a couple of hours here and there.

That's a good idea that I hadn't thought of. I'll try it on the next snow fall and see what happens.

Looks like a boat shed people build all the time in New England over their boats for winter protection and repairs.
My neighbors would freak out. So would my wife. But I would love it!
Just out of curiosity....is this cheaper than a cover it (or something similar)????

Steven:
$900 USD. More detail in post #21 above.
I assume most shelter systems out there would cost quite a bit more.
Keep in mind that this is a TEMPORARY solution that allows me to work on the renovation this winter.
I plan to take the shed down and recycle it somehow come spring.
