Trailer Door
Our garage is 12' wide wall to wall with a 2" slope in the floor from the back to the garage door. You can open the door to enter and exit but it will not open and fold back. We are in and out of it all the time but we always pull it out before a trip to load large items. This was an existing garage we just adjusted the door height and it worked! We did this after my husband put it in storage at a lot. We were sick with worry so he picked it up the same day! Made adjustments and we are good to go. It is nice to have it at home.

How about a door on the side of the garage?
Lisa P with your setup, you could add a carefully sized and placed door and door on the side of the garage and be able to open the trailer door all the way and load while in the garage!

Trailer door
Yes we could but that is not a problem to us. Believe me .. we are in and out of that trailer all the time. We just got it last March and 10,000 miles later the new has not worn off yet.

Also do either of you have an incline?

We are able to get in and out of the trailer in the garage, but the door will not open to be able to fold it back. We load much of what we need while in the garage. The day we leave for a trip we pull out and load the rest. Our driveway is flat except for the 10" rise in the last 25' up to the garage. We did not have much choice due to location of our driveway and lot size when we built the garage with the door on the left side. Our next garage we build when we move and downsize our home and have a larger lot will be built wider or at least the RV port will be on the right hand side. We will also build it with a much larger door at least 12' by 12'.

LisaP,
I re-read your post with the photo, what an awesome and simple design, you took the single garage and added that short overhang, voila! Was that your own design or did you have an architect dream that up? My roof slope is the same, I may do something similar!

I have a 12' h x 24' w overhead door which has worked out great. Is ugly but it's on a shed back behind the house so it doesn't matter. The shed is long enough to be able to park the traylah and tow vehicle while hitched and still be able to walk all the way around with the door closed. Even with lots of space I still have to pay attention while backing in part because the driveway turns.

I previously posted pictures of our current garage with the 10' by 10' door. We have our new garage built on a lot we purchased and it is much larger 42' by 40' with a center door that is 12' wide by 14' tall. We wanted to make sure we could put anything we wanted in this garage instead of needing to use a shoe horn like to back in like with our old garage. Now we will be building a home on this lot and hope to sell our home here in Austin in the spring.
