Question 2018 Globetrotter Winterize

There appears to be an additional low point drain valve inside the water heater compartment that you access from the bathroom. This black colored valve is on the floor, roughly underneath the by-pass valve. Has anybody dealt with this valve when winterizing? How hard was the valve to turn?

I've attached a photo that shows this valve.

Yes it is a low point drain. You will need to open and either allow to drain and then if you are going to add the pink antifreeze then you will need to close it before you do.
I believe the Globetrotters come stock from the factory with the winterizing tank bypass valve that allows the pump to suck antifreeze straight out of the bottle.

On board winterize

Hello,

With the winterization kit, can you just put the hose in the fluid, pump thru all the lines and pour some n traps? Would that be enough or something else need be done?

Yes there is more to be done. Step by step winterizing procedure is in your owner's manual.

Agreed, there is more to it, such as draining your hot water tank, various low point drains, fresh, grey and black tanks, putting the bypass valve in the proper position, etc. It is not complicated, but following the direction in your manual so you do not miss anything is a must. If you miss a step, it could really ruin your day in the Spring when you summarize your trailer.

The manual talks about disconnecting inlet and outlet from pump. Does not say much about winterizing from pump

Hi

If you look around, there are multiple threads on exactly what you need to do to winterize. Since there are at least four different approaches to winterizing, you first need to decide on which approach you are going to use. You then dig into the details of that approach. The first bit question is "just blow it out or use anti-freeze?". Once you are past that one there are sub versions to each.

Are you planning to winterize your trailer this spring?

FYI there is a helpful Sticky Topic Winterizing thread at the top of this sub-forum:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f458...rize-7222.html

Also there are many pages of similar threads in this same sub-forum:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f458/

Look in the column which has the total number of replies . . . the longer threads have very helpful info without folks having to repeat themselves for each new thread.

Do you realize that there is a 10-15 minute time window for editing your posts?

Good luck,

Peter

Hi

As we get closer to October / November, I'm quite sure we will have a lot of threads going over just what to do. Going over it all now simply gives people a lot of time to forget what was said ....
