Question Super Jack repair

I have a 1981/2 31' Excella with a Super Jack by H&H Engineering of BAttle Creek, MI.
The fiber gear is stripped. I have a replacement, but I am cautioned that if it is not installed properly, it will immediately strip out again.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could send me instructions.

Do you install it with the post fully extended or fully retracted?

Thanks in advance.

Dedko, you will find the instructions and parts diagrams at http://www.barkermfg.com/product_ins...power_jack.pdf . If you can't access it there, the details are that after removing the powerhead and replacing the gear, you must synchronise the powerhead with the jackpost by:
1. Use the crank to fully retract the post.
2. Crank jackpost one turn in the opposite direction.
3. Ground powerhead to jackpost or trailer frame.
4. Push switch away from jackpost housing (as if retracting post). Hold switch until motor stops running (as if jackpost is retracted all the way)
5. Install powerhead and tighten screws.
Good luck. Nick.

This is a bit off topic, but I was wondering how the power jack gets it's power?

I was considering installing one.

Thanks,

Eric

Power for jack

Newer trailers should have the wire for the jack folded back in the tongue. I believe it is usually a brown wire. There should be a dedicated fuse or breaker for the jack; check your manual.

Otherwise, you can steal power from the breakaway switch. I did that on my last SOB trailer.

I bought mine from PPL here in Houston.
If my memory serves me, I paid about $30 for the dang gear.

Ok, I have 1976 sovereign with a power jack. Is this what every one is calling a super jack and can I buy a replacement gear for it?

Super Jack gear...

PPL is a very large RV/Motorhome/facility on the southwest side of Houston.
sales, cosignments, rentals, service, parts....
They are right at the intersection of US 59 and the Beltway.
Just google 'PPL Houston'.
