Rear Airbag Compressor 1983 310 Help Please
I just bought a 1983 310 motorhome. There is no air coming into the rear airbags and I don't know where the air compressor is. I know this is probably a dumb question but is it inside the coach somewhere ? All I see underneath are the airbags with a line coming from a large air tank. Maybe if I follow the lines I can trace it down.
I appreciate any help...Thanks.

In our 310, the compressor is under the rear roadside bed. You can manually inflate those bags through the accumulator tank unless the bags are shot, which they could be if never replaced.

I'll take a look under the rear full size bed. If I can't get the compressor to run I'll inflate through the tank and see if the airbags hold air. Thanks very much for the help.

The compressor can also be in the generator compartment.

So far no luck finding the compressor - maybe it has been removed for some reason. My '78 Argosy has the pump in the generator compartment but no luck here. The water pump and tank are under the bed but that's all I see. There is a large sealed metal box under the right side rear bedroom wardrobe. I am guessing that it's the univolt but I'm not sure. I did find what appears to be some kind of an electrical relay box on the floor of the left side rear compartment ( where the power cord is ) . Will keep looking.

Have you seen two air connections outside the coach? Could be the compressor went bad and they routed the hoses outside. I've seen 345s that had those. If the compressor is on board, it should not be hard to find, they are pretty good size. You do have a factory recall set of leaf springs, so the coach can be driven, but those bags need to be dealt with.

What fix was involved in the leaf spring recall and is there a way to tell if it was done on my 310 ?

All my 310 has is a schrader valve mounted on the outside near the rear road side bumper. Because the air bags comsume a small amount of air it needs to be refilled. I fill mine to 100 lbs but the leveling value limits the pressure to the bags.
Good Luck
Bill

Originally, there were no leafs on the rear. I believe the Feds learned from the problems the GMC mo/hos had when the bags deflated. Look at the rear end, you should see the leafs just inside the duals.

Mine wasn't working either. I found the air compressor in one of the outside compartment which housed the 30 amp cord. I texted it by running wire from it straight to the battery. It worked but I couldn't find its power source fuse so I just added another fuse box and added a toggle switch to turn it off and on. It works great now.

On my '83, 310 (sold now) the compressor was in the storage compartment just to the front of the rear drivers side tires.

Mine also has a pressure regulator that senses when the bags need air and turns the compressor on then shuts it down at 90-100lbs i believe
