Placing the jack under the "arm"?

Is there anything wrong with my placing the jack under the support arm instead of at the jacking point marked by the "X"

I did that today when adjusting the brakes and it worked.....that way I could raise each wheel individually. By "arm" I mean that angled piece that apparently is welded to the axle and the other end must attach to the rod that is enclosed in rubber.
